Bought a 240 last week...
Hey, guys and gals!
I bought a non-running 1992 240SX SE for $250 last week. Plan to just through a salvage motor in there and get it running so I can tear my truck down and take care of the body work. Then I'll tear into the 240... |

Thanks for the welcome guys...
The photos don't tell the whole story, It needs paint and some body work as well as some interior cleaning/refurbing. Matt, Asbury is about 15 miles north of Joplin. The population is only 220 so it's a small community to say the least... |

Thanks again for the welcome and accolades of finding a cheap 240...
Well, got the old motor pulled out this past Sunday. Man, whoever owned this cars treated it like crap. The #1 piston was OK, but the #2 had a nice big scar down the side of it, The #3 and #4 rods where slapping around on the crank (didn't look like a spun bearing, but not real sure). All of the pistons had a nice little indents from the intake valves due to valve float. The clutch disc had been replaced recently, but the flywheel had not been resurfaced, The flywheel and the preasure plate had gotten really hot and slipped hard. Oh and most of the old clutch disc was stuck behind the flywheel. So now starts the search for a cheap running motor... Last edited by CraigB; 09-02-2003 at 10:33 PM.. |
