Any guys on here into Drag Racing?
What do some of you guys run for times... Pics are great too!
I am mostly a drag race guy who has done some road racing and a little drifting in my day. I am actually thinking about picking up a nice drift project to take up a little more of my time. |

i have not gone drag racing for a while. used to race an all motor crx that ran consistent 11.0. fastest was a 10.95 in Englishtown. had a 1980 celica that was my DD. ran low to mid 12,s all day. it had a bone stock 2rz from a 96 tacoma with a 60-1 turbo and SDS engine management, made 360 whp and 320 torque. i rolled that one and totaled it. used to pit for for my old work`s ford focuz chassis car back in 1999-2001. that ran a best of [email protected] 183 mph. it had an old 2.1 dohc cosworth 4 cylinder with a turbonetics turbo that i don`t know the size. i know its bigger than a t72 because we had a t72 and it only ran 8.0. i`m actually trying to build another car for local 1/8 mile. it`s a 72 toyota carina. maybe a 4.0 toyota v8 or another 2rz.

I live my life a quarter mile at a time.
Well, I do have to say that jet car is impressive. I don't even wanna know how much that thing cost to build. Actually I do wanna know, haha.

Key is to get a good 60 ft though. Your right about that. Matter fact key is to get a great 1/8th mile and the back half will usually take care of itself. Im a drag guy but have my b13 se-r, quickest time to date is [email protected] back when it was on a t3 60 trim garrett w/ .82 turbine housing on 24 psi of boost and stock intake manifold. Later went back on 30 lbs of boost, aftermarket intake manifold, and a brand new set of slicks that wernt all dried up and old and worn. Got a new 1/8th mile best of 7.1 @108mph with a way worse 1.91 60ft bogging off the line bad. Sputtered out due to a boost leak and finally popped the coupler just after the 1/8th and coasted to an [email protected]. Switched to a t67 h.o. and 6 speed spec v trans, 35 psi of boost and had a 140mph trap speed spin, bog, spin, bog, spin, bog, spin spin spin all the way down the track. Didnt get a chance to dial the car in as it started raining and had other issues come up. Oh well. Im doing a setup change, sleeved block, VE head, bigger fuel system and so on going for 800-900+whp and shooting for 9's at 150+mph. Full out drag car now with a 10pt chromoly cage going in w/ parachute on the back and all. Here is the way it looked before. Build is in work and new pics will be up in my build thread when I get a chance to work on it again and get it done. |

I just ran at MIR this past weekend for Imports vs. Domestics
I have a built s13 blacktop with Tomei cams, lifters, springs etc, full 3 inch exhaust including 3 inch down pipe with welded 3 inch cat an an aftermarket turbo dump pipe, GReddy front mount, skyline 550cc injectors, GT2871r BB turbo, Apex'i AVCR, and some other goodies.. pulled 1.1 bars (duty cycle needs to be turned up as i had it set at 1.3 bars) slow off the line with a .448 reaction time, 1.9 60ft, 118mph through the trap @ 11.99... oh yeah, and i dont have an LSD yet* and ran with 205/50/15 Mickey Thompson ET street radials.. that was the 3rd pass i've ever made with the car. the first pass (free run) was 13.00 @ low, almost stock boost granny shifting just to see if she'd make it down the track straight. Second pass (1st round) .398 reaction time, 2.12 60 ft, 117.25 through the trap @ 12.58... third pass was my 11.99 run with slower reaction time, .2 quicker 60ft... I bought the car 3 months ago with the originial KA in it, barely idleing, half flat black half gloss black (sad part is, its an original forest/british racing green 240sx SE).. bought the motor from a local engine import shop, re-did the interior, flat black the rest of the car except the roof, put the motor in myself, changed some things, added some things, re-did the suspension (set the car up to drift it, figured since i dyno'd it i might as well get a 1/4 mile time too), dyno'd it, and tow'd it to MIR for the race. Surprised the hell out of me! to see 11's put a huge smile on my face and you would never expect it by looking at the car or motor. it looks good, but it doesnt look like an 11 second car.. nighttime hussla i have time slips, dyno sheets, and video of it all too. dyno put almost 300 to the wheels @13psi. I'm thinking with a nice LSD, some 10inch wide drag radials, a better tune, and getting the AVCR dialed in better that i could pull low 11's and need i say/ginx myself, quite possibly HIGH 10's next season.... then drift it on the other weekend muahaha here's my 11.99 pass where i was sleeping at the line.. what makes it even better is that the mustang i was running, left the line with a .106 reaction time, and i walked around him by a car length by the time we blew through the trap. he ran a 12.47..: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n0frD7psPmQ&feature=plcp
