A little update.
I put the tank back on to it's stock postion as well as the seat. I think it looks good. It's maybe not a straight up Cafe but it it's definitely stripped down. When I sit on it it looks real low too and that's really the look I originally wanted. I just have to finish up this website and some other things for a client and get payed and I'll be getting Woodcraft Clip-ons and new Dunlop tires. Shouldn't be too long after that I'll have her runnin.

Cool. I found a really good article about wrapping my exhaust.
Exhaust Heat Wrap Installation I'll be doing that once it's cleaned up.

Yeah I'm gonna fill in the area where the Yamaha emblem was too. I'm going to paint it satin black.

Hack the seat yourself, bars, leave tank alone, and get spoked wheels when you find a pair for cheap.

For the handle bars I'm getting clip-ons. Since I lowered the front by lowering the triple tree (which is a perfectly ok way to do it) the handle bars don't fit in the clamps. I want clip ons anyway. Woodcraft makes'em in m size. Like these: Tank'ill get painted soon. Just gotta fill in the area where the emblems were. The exhaust is rusty as shit. I'm working on grinding that all off too. Then I'll be painting it with like high temp engine paint and then heat tape wrapping it. It's definitely coming along though.

I came up with an idea inspired by someone's wheels on here.
For the rims I'm going to paint the rims a combo of gloss black and flat black. Shit is gonna be nice.

i dont like motorcycles but when i saw the new ducati SC biposto with the cafe look i was like goddamn shit looks good, and i dont wanna sound gay for saying this but the "cafe racer look" brings something back to motorcycles that has been somewhat missing for the last 40 years...something romantic...when i see a douchebag with a blinged out chop job or a fully faired rocket and a harley guy trying to be all badass..i just laugh is all most the same when you see a ricer with a big spoiler and and funny bodykit..

I'm hunting for new front and rear signals and a new brake light. LED's more then likely. I'm not sure about the horns. But probably. The Yamaha plate has fuses behind it. I might think about just filling it in so it doesn't say Yamaha but I'm not sure if I can move it all together. I'm not a big electrical guy. I like the stock gauges too. Especially since new ones are hundreds of dollars and this thing is a budget bike. Quote:
And if anyone has any suggestions turn signals they think would look rad on the bike and be budget friendly feel free to let me know.

I still have a ways to go but it's getting there. I sprayed it brown so you can see it better. Yes it looks terrible right now.
The main part of the seat needs to be flatter and the rear part of it needs to be more rounded. You can see the different shape though compared to the stock seat.

BTW I'm using a combination of a bread knife and one of these to shape the foam.
My friend suggested a electric turkey carving knife, but I don't have one of those.

To get a final shape, we used to use a DA, a palm sander, or a die grinder with Roloc disks to smooth everything out
foam goes away fast even when you're sanding!

Then also, I haven't really found anyone (as far as Virago's go) going the route I'm going now. Reshaping the seat and making it look more Cafe inspired that way among other things.
