S13 Kouki tail lights, do I need the lock?
I'm currently piecing together a kouki tail light conversion.
When all the OEM kits were being sold before, they always came with the lock, I never got why. Do I need the cylinder lock? |

You can modify the key, I didn't get the lock because my set was a gift. I did find a solution that worked. of course you could always purchase the lock.
Here's what my hatch key looks like uploadfromtaptalk1402194368138.jpg Here's what the unmodified key looks like under the modified key uploadfromtaptalk1402194458372.jpg Sent from my Highly Tuned Galaxy S3.4!!!

I added washers behind my 240sx lock barrel and it worked perfectly for letting me use my original key with kouki 180sx tail lights. Don't mind the hornet's nest that I was originally taking this picture for lol

I tried the washer method and it either needed more washers for the key to reach, or it would turn but not open my hatch.
I got off my lazy ass, had a lock smith reprogram the cylinder to my keys, and installed the longer kouki cylinder. Before: Yes there is a lock cylinder in there somewhere (with washer's too!) After: Still need to get off my lazy ass once more and paint and install the kouki lower panel...

exactly what I did with my car. Put 2 10mm nuts and it spaced it perfectly.
