s13 Oil filter issues

I read on here in the FAQ that an oil filter from a 94 sentra se-r will fit my s14 sr20det. It doesnt. The hole is a tiny bit too small and wont fit. However I happened to have a new 2004 civic oil filter n it fits perfect. Its actually a slightly larger oil filter than the SR's. Any1 know what the correct one is.

ps Its a zenki s14 sr20det if that makes a difference

if filter is for s14 sr20 then the correct filter is the same one for a 350z or g35. short one compared to tall one from red top. stick to short ones cuz a buddy of mine used one from a redtop and it popped right off while driving!!! just stick to oem... imo

i think the filter from the 1998 se-r works. im pretty sure thats what my friend uses on his. i think the penzoil oil filter with part#109 fits. you could go to a parts store and cross reference it and get a k&n one or whichever brand you prefer.

that filter from the civic fits because it IS the same filter. new nissans hyundais & hondas all use that same filter. i know all of this because i am a lube tech lol. hope this helps bro

I beg to differ. While the filter may fit, they are NOT the same.

I just logged onto the parts server for CQ and Napa, and part numbers are all different between SE-R and Honda's (all motors) of the same years.

Again, it may work, but the PN is different.

early model se-r's and late model hondas use that filter.
you can also try penz filter # 37 and 38.
early usdm sr20s use the 38 and i think they switched to 37 in 1998

Again, the filters may fit, but they are technically the correct ones for the car. Not saying they won't work.... but to say they are the same is sorta misleading, as they could internally be different for some odd reason. I don't want to be viewed as some ball buster, just want the correct info out there.

Carquest: 99 Civic 1.6

HP1004 (KN)

The big thing is though, that yo uwant to use the 65F00 for S14 and 53J00 for S13

Luckily for me, big truck filters are all very similar due to engines being the same across different platforms woot. Makes keeping stock easy.
