l28e in s13

I have a 91 240sx-with a blown engine(KA24DE) and a 280zx with a running engine(L28E)- and I was wondering what needs to be done to SUCCESFULLY swap the engine to the s-chassis and get it running. Don't care why I would do that I just want to know what needs to be done for the l28 to be running in the s13. I know a lil like having to bore 2 holes in the l28 bell housing, and getting a new tranny mount, or customizing... but what else. Is the wiring harness as easy as figuring out where they go and pin them in? What do I use for the tranny mount and engine mounts and do I need to do anything with the power steering. What about the throttle rod? how do I mod that.

This is actually kind of a cool idea but I worry about the execution here.

I can see a 3.2L 300HP big cam motor with triple webers in a clean s13 coupe.

I can tell you from 30 years of experience with Datsun's that ditching the 280ZX EFI for carbs will save you A TON of headaches!! The EFI for the 280Z through 280ZX is a vacuum hose nightmare!!

You're the dumbass asking how to swap an engine. Figure the shit out like the rest of us if you're too lazy to go through FSM's and other service literature. Need me to spell it out? Factory Service Manual. Need any help with other acronyms?

It's actually rather simple. Isis makes a kit that allows you to mount the engine and trans. Fits like a glove, no hammering needed. Wiring's pretty simple, you only gotta hook up a few wires and bam!
These engines are also known for handling up to 860hp with a stock bottom end!
Not only that, but this swap will also improve your weight balance to near 50/50!

I ran a couple of "stroked" motors in my Z's, they are really quick and the S13 would be a good fit because of the low weight. Diesel cranks are getting hard to come by now though. And tuning carburetors is almost a lost art these days. I love the power delivery and sound of a straight 6.

I agree, the l series is just a fantastic engine. A 3 liter is probably much more economical to build than a 3,2 right. I considered the L series for the car I'm building but went with a v12 instead.

The 3 is much cheaper - OS Giken is selling their head again but I'm pretty sure it's ridiculously priced!

TC24 head is like $30k, not including the block. Bluemoon in costa mesa is now an authorized source for fully assembled OSGiken twin cam engines, if you feel like dropping enough coin to buy a used R35

That's crazy!! I would like to be at a place where I could drop that much on a head.....I never could understand the design of the factory head...lets put the intake on top of the header????

The whole S30 scene is turning into a old Porsche clone....its all getting stupid expensive.

you either:
-start from scratch and build a custom harness

or

-remove the l28 harness, and install it in the 240.

literally that's all there is to it.

if you can't figure it out on your own, theres nothing we can tell you that will help you, other than to hire a professional, who will probably start from scratch and make a custom one.
