600+hp sr20det getting maybe 100hp??? WTF???
Hi zilvia! I'm new here but been lurking around for months and decided not to even post until I got my s14. Anyways, on with my problem....
The car lacks power like a mofo and runs like sh!t. Black smoke everywhere, feels like its running on 3 cylinders with >100hp or something. On the highway the exhaust note isn't smooth, its choppy and the car shuts off when I stop. I've searched and found similar stuff but not quite like the problems I'm having. It idles o.k for about a minute then shuts itself off. I was running pump gas(93) on low boost on the gt35r. New to sr20det's, help me out zilvia... Lots of mods on the car: CP pistons (stock bore) Eagle Rods ARP bolts Calico coated bearings (main and rod) Hks 272 cams SuperTech Titanium valves Supertech Dual valve springs Greddy Rocker arm stoppers Mild port on head Custom manifold Custom Downpipe GT35R turbo Tial BOV Tial wastegate Precision large FMIC Act 6puck clutch Fidanza light weight flywheel Precision 880cc injectors (top feed) Top feed Fuel rail Aeromotive FPR Aeromotive In-line 1000 Fuel pump 255lph Walbro In-take Custom surge fuel surge tank setup B&M short throw shifter Microtech LT10 (4 bar)Stand alone ECU Microtech Hand controller MSD Dis 4 W/2 step Bosh Ignition coils Koyo Radiator Dual Flexlite slim fans Tein sTech Greddy Exhaust Thanks for your help in advance! yah could be hundreds of things. main guess is tuning. especially since its breaking up when jus cruising on the freeway. it should be most steady/smooth at that point.
you say 600HP, but ur car hardly runs and ur new to sr20dets, how you figure 600?

If it's breaking up when just cruising it's probaby too lean
get a Wideband on it

i would do a compression test to make sure everything is good. If you know anything about the engine management that is on the car you may want to look at the decel fuel maps. I had a problem with my sr breaking up under cruising.

Have you taken a good look at your IC piping? Because honestly, this sounds exactly like what my car was doing after I blew a coupling off while driving. I checked my MAF, coil packs, all of that crap, then felt like a dummy when I saw the pipe hanging off the end of my front-mount

Lol...Yea, its been ran. Alot! But I got it for a nice price! The privious owner told me the only change that was made was the CAS. It had a mitsubishi (brand) CAS when it was tuned and since then its been replaced with a Hitachi CAS. Would that matter? I'm not sure if there would be a big difference with the 2 different brands or not. Car is with tuner and thats what he suggested also. Timing is fine, compression test is fine, MAF and all connections were also good. Car just wont rev over 2k. Maybe a bad CAS or just buy a mitsubishi brand.....IDK what the hell is up. I'm new to this... Anyone in the Winston Salem, NC area with knowledge? Yea, I'll pay ya for your time and help! Gas too! 336-837-9181 Tim (I'm dead ass serious).

1tp I'm headed to the shop to take a look at it tomorrow with Mark. though from talking to him I can't readily find a problem. i'm curious about the msd bosch coil setup. but you said the only major change from when it was running "right" and not running was the CAS change. mark said some rwiring was needed in the change? I wonder if something is crossed....

couple things... first the cars running an older Microtech LT8XS box with the 30psi map. And that MSD box is ancient as well. seems at least some of the problem is the MSD. I'm gonna bring mine up there first of next week to compare a few things. but those are the craziest sounding hks 272s EVER.

Yea, I love the cams! That microtech systems is gettin replaced by mid summer for a haltech E11v2. Its still running on the 30psi map, tuned with c16 gas... too aggressive for me and my pockets, I dont want anything to do with that map. Mark is gonna retune it for pump gas and 24psi. When you commin up next week? You mean you're bringing your car or msd or microtech sys? Let me know what day you're goin. Thanks for all your help.
