Idling issue (Single cam KA24)
So here's the issue,
My KA24e idles at cold start around 600-700rpms. When it warms up and it's at operating temp, it idles around 1,200 rpms. What I've done so far: I've recently changed my o2 sensor, coolant temp sensor AND pigtail, cleaned the throttle body, and tampered with the IACV. I've adjusted it when the car was at operating temp to around 650-700 rpms, but when it's cold it idles around 500-600 and will want to die after a few seconds if I don't give it gas. What do you guys think it is? or what could it be? |

did you spray carb cleaner into the iacv? have you checked that the valves click open? have you resistence tested them at all?
if im not mistaken there is 2 electronic valves on the iacv. i clicked mine open with a 9v battery and they resistance tested one at 10 and one at 20 I would imagine either of these being stuck would cause idle issues For what it might be worth. Ka24e and s13 ka24de use the same iacv S14 use almost the exact same iacv but the connectors are different. (Im not 100% sure if the wiring is the same but you can plug the s14 intake manifold sub harness into an s13 engine harness and it will plug into your iacv) Splicing s14 connectors onto an s13 sub harness will work

Check the engine temp control sensor connector. Make sure there is no corrosion on the contacts. Had the same problem as you. A little baking soda and water cleaning up the contacts and haven’t had that problem since |

I think it's my engine temp or coolant temp idk witch one is witch but when I unplugged the red sensor by the power steering pump it changed idle just a little then jumped back to where it was..I reved it up to 3k it held it fine. I plugged it back in reved it to 3k and it would slowly bounce up and down from 1 k to 3k.???

So I'm going to to a full tune up. Spark plugs, wires, cap and rotor, fuel filter, maybe a fuel pump too. I was looking at a kit in eBay. It has the parts I need. But it was it's for a 91-95 witch is the de. Will these parts for my single cam? Here's a link to the eBay tune up kit.

Update: installed a new coolant temp sensor still runs the same but better response. I believe I'm running rich. I backfire a lot and smells horrible. Still need to replace spark plugs wires and cap and rotor and fuel pump and filter
