Dealer Markup on Evo VIII
This is a pic of a window sticker on an Evo 8. Look all the way to the right for the manufacturer's suggested price, and then look for the dealer's price.
Evo 8 window sticker pic $20K dealer markup!!

For 60K, I'd have a 98 Supra single turbo conversion running 700 HP. Stupid people.

That's obscene. I wouldn't pay $50K for that car, I'd rather take a Z06. Do you guys think the same thing will happen to the SRT-4, STi, and RX-8? I don't think the dealers have usurped the 350Z though, thank god. I remember a couple years ago I was at a Toyota dealership and they were marking up those MR2 Spyders to about $35K, calling them a limited production special edition.

not sure where that pic was from, but its pretty common to see some dealer markup here in the midwest on alot of sporty cars. I've heard of fairly large markups on everything from WRX's to 350z's to S2000's around the Cincinnati area. It just depends on availability i guess.

Most of the very first batch of Evos are going for MSRP. That kind of mark up takes some balls. If i lived near that dealer and wanted to buy that car, and I walked in to see that, I'd be tempted to take a swing at them.

Umm, last time I heard Evo's weren't available at too many dealers... they could probably get away with $60-$70 easily. Anyone ever watch MTV Cribs? Loser rappers have phat cars. There is a huge disparity between the rich and the poor in this world.
On a side note, if I had $70k, I'd buy my wife a $20-$30k car before I started an ambitious project. I'd have my pimp car, the classic Cadillac w/ hydraulics, my daily driver, an old Camry, and autoX car, the MK1 MR2 SC, and a Sunday driver, an older Porsche 911. That way I could have EVERYTHING I could EVER need in life instead of one straight line car, lol. |
