-Brady played college football for and graduated cum laude from the University of Michigan. He was a backup his first two years, while his teammate and future NFL quarterback Brian Griese led the Wolverines to a share of the national championship in 1997 -Brady was selected with pick #199, a compensatory pick, of the 2000 NFL Draft. According to Michael Holley's book Patriot Reign, the Patriots were considering Brady and Tim Rattay, both of whom had received positive reviews from then-quarterbacks coach Dick Rehbein. Ultimately, the Patriots front office chose Brady, a decision that a 2007 NFL Network special deemed the greatest "steal" in the history of the NFL Draft. Brady worked his way from the fourth string, behind starter Drew Bledsoe and backups John Friesz and Michael Bishop; by season's end, he was number two on the depth chart behind Bledsoe. During his rookie season, he was 1-for-3 passing, for 6 yards yep ur right...total superstar...regular 4th string 199pick superstar, what makes the pats so good year after year is that there are no stars....just a group of guys that belichick gets to play as a tight family every year....besides randy moss we dont draft high profile players, for the most part the pats draft midlevel players that they see huge potential in even if no one else does and works there asses off until they are as good as you see....when i say stars i mean celebrities...well everyone in the NFL is a celebrity but their are celebrities within the league to....who do, dumb shit, talk themselves up constantly...and overall take away from their teams focus ie terrell owens etc...I dont feel like theres one guy on the pats that you can point to and say "he makes the team" even brady and moss are only one part of the whole equation...watch them and you get the sense that they play as if everyone out on the field is equally important |

im not just a pats fan, i watch the saints, the bucs, and the bengals too.
and let me just say threads like this are exapmles why i usually watch sporting events alone, cause it turns into a "well this is why you suck" or "woo hoo look at us" type deal. or some sort of huge fucking debate over what happened.

Look, I have had about enough of bitter chargers' fans versus bitter patriots' fans versus the legions of newfound giants' fans bitching back and forth. It is getting old now.
The patriots as players are not as bad a group of human beings as the world wants to them to be, while their coach is a cold-fucking blooded killer, anyone who can't see that is being overly compensatory. The chargers lost 18 days ago, the fact that the giants beat the team that beat them MIGHT vindicate the loss, but continuing to harp on it doesn't make anyone look any better. Yes, the giants beat the patriots... That does NOT make them the first wild card to win a superbowl, and all it really means is that they played a damn good defensive effort in a boring fucking game and they get the damned trophy. Can we all please focus on the real fucking issue that everyone has here? Michael Vick fought dogs and needs to be put to the electric chair!

I think there's an NBA thread.
Yea, they really don't. Favre has never had so many weapons at his disposal. Not even during the Super Bowl years. And now that we have a legit RB. Yea, GB is gonna be back stronger next year.

Winning and losing is a very funny thing. One minute, both sides are excited, both talking smack, then one team loses. All gloating from the winning side, and then moans, groans, and excuses from the other side. I love sports!

"Just let us know which season you want to lose."
I'll take this year's Superbowl for $2000 Alex. lol Anyways, why are they called the New England Patriots instead of the Boston Patriots? Just curious. |

they used to be the boston patriots like back in the day....they renamed them new england in 1971....but if you come here MA,RI,NH,ME,VT and CT are all so small...they really are all tiny ass states that border each other(I can drive to any one of them in under 3 hours) and way to small to have their own teams...i think they did it to get all of new england to feel like they had a team or somethin

Before the season started SI predicted the top 500 players in the NFL. Brett Favre was like 129.
Then this...They had to do a second printing of these because they sold out everywhere. Then he was on the cover again after the Snow Bowl game a few weeks later.
