COP pulls me over... F*@K California and REF tickets!!!
So the other night working all night to change out the starter and then my clutch goes bad. So we're ordering a new clutch and I go out to the shop to pick up some parts when a cop pulls me over. well the rest is history and now i have a ref ticket.
for those of you in Orange County I was in Huntington Beach on Brookhurst and Garfield. The cop was actually pretty nice and specifically stated their looking for these types of vehicles b/c alot of them have illegal engines. He didn't think mine was a swap but said the shiny intake pipe (intercooler) looked like it was not stock so here is a ref. oh well... worst case scenario.... swap out the SR20 w/ the KA and then go RB?? ionno. Both my loves and my financial burdens..... Mine and my cousins doing a bit of this n that..... I think we're trying to get tighten a bolt here. my idiot cousin says "Hey atleast now you can get rid of the SR and put in an RB" and this is a special treat b/c my other little cousin is the uber ghey! PWNge? PS. Any "oh SR's are illegal" and "you can't get out of a ref ticket" comments are appreciated but not needed... i pretty much know I got alot of sh*T set forth to take care of. end of rant. |

question: cant u just pay the fine and not bring the car for inspection, tell them the car is broke and wont run anyway?

well ur car does stand out with the kit and nic epaintjob. that prolly attracts a bit of attention. if u search up a lotta ppl get out of it with only a few hundred dollar fine. which is as much or less than what youll spend on a KA and your time swapping it.
hope everything works out. fuck the po-lice!!! just had to say it! |

really sorry to hear it. That is my biggest fear...I try to do everything right as in only racing at the track and all. But it is also my daily driver.
So the idea that there are all these ass holes out there getting "HYPHY" and swinging um' all out in the street and dont get in trouble...and I can be on my way to work and get pulled over for a blinker or something and eather get a ticket like that or worse, get my car impounded just sucks. Y did he originally pull you over? |

I MEAN WHAT DID HE SAY HE PULLED HIM OVER FOR. THAT IS OBVIOUS...TOO LOW? TOO LOUD? understand? My 240sx is modid...have a roll cage and completly gutted with no tint...I pass by a few cops here and there living downtown and all and only get a glanc once in a wile. *knock on wood* Where you driving "funny" at all? Damn I'm getting more and more scared every day. |

Thank you to all those that have given positive advice, I really appreciate your help. I have my sources and will have this ref ticket taken care of so I'm not too worried, and like i said.... worst case scenario: i'll just swap out the motor. It is definitely interesting to hear that some people just dismissed the ref ticket and paid the fine. I'll have to source out my resources to look into these loop holes. |

what exactly did they write on the ticket? You can pay it off. Just wait for the invoice in the mail and look at how much it is. mine was like $480 something for "removed smog device"

That lexus in the bg looks pretty clean.
As for your car... That harbor freight jack looks hot. I mean the way your car looks, you kinda have to expect to be pulled over. Being pulled over by the cops is just part of the territory.

Should've set your car on fire so the fire department would've came down and join the party. j/k
just wait for the ticket in the mail and pay the fine. doesn't everyone know this trick?

And yeah, expect to get your hood popped with an oversized silver front-mount IC poking out of your bumper unless you're driving an EVO. It's bad enough to be driving a 240 these days -- you should do all you can to not attract more attention. |

simple enough.... i just dont drive my 240 very often. Its mostly in the garage torn apart anyways... I drive the lexus daily and hopefully in a few months this whole craze will die down. Either way, i'm not worried.
I asked the police officer if he would mind me taking pictures of the car. He was like "are you serious?" Just wait till he gets a "change of venue" in the bay area and then failure to appear delay. |
