I am in the middle of the build and the brand new stage 3 clutch I bought does not fit. Part Number is SN333, for the S13 SR20DET. The engine is a red top, I have no idea if that would matter. The flywheel is Exedy but is a universal. Everything fits on the motor but when getting ready to assemble to the transmission, the pressure plate is 1/4-1/2" too big to fit in the housing. Am I missing something here? HELP!!!

I'm confused? So you have it mounted onto your flywheel and the transmission can't slide over it? Is this your problem?

Godsmack, essentially yes, but after contacting Spec, I learned that same year model SRs can have different size internals on the bell housing, Spec makes another kit that has a more compact version of the Pressure plate that fits on those models, sadly though there is no way to be able to tell until you open it up as far as I can find. I think I have the issue resolved. Spec is very good on tech support and product backing.

What different internal? Sounds like BS. I bet SPEC sent you the wrong clutch and what the heck do you mean by universal flywheel?

sounds to me you having a hard time putting it in with new bushing. i had the same issue after using a new bushing. all i did was threaded a tranny bolt in and the trans moved in more,

Not true at all, there is no other company that makes differentl pressure plate sizes for sr20!

Spec just sent you the wrong kit

return it, get your monbey back, and buy the kit i have for sale and save some money.... it will fit!...lol

Here is the email that SPEC sent me when I brought up the issue.

"Hmm.. We have seen some bellhousings that ar e smaller than others. The cle ar ance is very tight. I have a pressure plate just like that one that should fit ( that we built for when we run in to the small bells) I can swap it out for you without having to go through Enjuku."

"…our measurements have shown them to be an 1/8 to a ¼ large in the casing around the straps at the corner edge…this different plate is much more compact there."

So the kit was actually the correct one but the bellhousings are different sizes on the s13sr

Be prepared to ship them the clutch and get the same clutch back...they suck that much.

I had a simaliar issue with Spec. I ordered a rb20 clutch flywheel combo. They gave me an sr20 and told me to drill out the dowel pin....

Needless to say I returned the clutch/ flywheel for the proper one.
