URAS 2JZ FT-86 Project
it seems the new FT-86 bug is spreading, im sure this is just the beginning of many crazy swaps to follow (Orido pretty much started it with his V8 powered FT-86). anyways, to those who dont know, URAS is planning to throw a 2JZ into this car. Nomura is supposedly going to showcase it at Suzuka pretty soon...these are the only picture of it i could find at the moment, but it'll be interesting to see Nomuken driving a new chassis and engine since he's been a ER34 man pretty much his whole pro drift career!!!
yes right now that widebody looks downright silly now, but i think it'll work once the car is actually finished lol also here's a vid i'll try to follow and update best i can! |

I had seen/read a small article in an issue of Option or Drift Tengoku. Nice to see that it's this far along (they had used the same picture of the bare engine dropped in the bay).

The 2J is a proven reliable power monster, while the ft86 motor has little to no development done yet. |

Someone did. The 2jz is a great engine, hence my previous posting "great motor." The sr20 is also a great engine, just saying. I don't care what engine they use. But this reminds me of that thread where the s2k(newer car) was getting an sr20(old ass motor).

For one, the F20C and F22C1 are great motors. People swap motors for more numerous reasons, not just because "the motor was inferior".
Super GT Supra's used 3S-GTEs. Not because 2JZ's weren't as good, but because 3SGTE's allowed for better weight distribution. Other shops and people do swaps, just because they can, and they get a wow factor. The FR-S motor has almost no development at this point and from my understanding is difficult to turbocharge at this point. Nomuken needed a track car now, so he swapped a proven 2JZ motor in. Not because the stock motor is inferior, but because he had other requirements that needed to be sorted out immediately. Gushi on the other hand has an EJ25(?) from an STi with a custom bellhousing and anti-lag, because it was an easier option than developing everything from scratch. |

Sorry for bumping an old thread, but here's the new livery on Nomuken's car for D1GP 2014:
Sponsored now by LoveLive, a TV anime, huh? I actually never saw that one coming... Taniguchi is sponsored by Hatsune Miku too... are these v-opt regulars closet otaku? |
