Have you guys heard of it?? Twin-Turbo inline 6 300hp!! And looks WAY better than the 2006 3 series, especially in the rear. Check it out www.bmwusa.com its on the front page, does anyone know what this car will be priced at?? I would mind getting one next year, I was starting to look into a new car, 20-40(max)k out the door

Pig. Screw all the new Bimmers, the 3 series spirit died with the advent of the E36. They just get heavier and more expensive.

less torque and more narrow powerband though. This might get better cruising mileage too

turbos arent to small for there being two of them and it only making 300hp

it may be less "BMW-ish" than past BMWs but I bet it is a helluvalot more sport oriented in steering and handling feel than the IS or G

just wait till someone like AA (active autowerks) gets ahold of it. i predict this thing being an aftermarket monster. you will see.

hell, most people dont realise that people are making over 400hp on a stock turbo E36 M3. those things seem to handle the boost VERY well. there is/was a guy on bimmerforums with a 500+ whp M coupe. stock engine + headgasket and studs. this will be a milestone i think.

I've been in a modified E46 M3 and it's changed my outlook on life hahahaha.
it's a ridiculous car, and it makes me want to get one. e30 for now, e46 for later

. my first car was an E30. i loved it more than anything. then i had an E32 750. big V12 torque was fun on the highway. there is such hatred for BMW ive noticed. i think its just because people havnt experienced them fully. i was a porter at a bmw dealership when i was 16/17. i had some fun times behind the wheels of some E36/E46 M's, even an E39 M5 once. a few of those M coupes/roadsters also. they're ALL a blast. a FUCKING blast.

It's love or hate for BMW's newer styling and I for one despise it. From a non-cosmetic standpoint it sounds lika a sweet car!

My first car was an e30 325i. My brother drives an E36 M3. My ex-girlfriend drove an E46 330Ci Sport and now drives an E36 323iC. Her mom drives an E39 528i. My best friend has an e34 M5. My old best friend's mom had an M Roadster and an E46 330Ci. An old friend of mine had a 2.5L e30 M3. I've test-driven an E46 M3. A good friend of mine has an e30 325iS.

I've had a lot of exposure to BMW, and the 3-series stopped with the e30, just as the 5-series stopped with the E39. These new cars are catering too much to the modern moneyed idiot.

Unless BMW brings out a lighter, less understeery car, they will never have a customer in me.

BMW are a bunch of crazy performance & efficiency lunatics...that's going to be a crazy car...especially for just a 3-series.

They had to factor in everyday drivablity with it too.

OptionZero, I've heard the new IS and G series from Lexus handle and feel damn well, power & steering-wise.

BMW has to do this to stay competitive (in the HP dept) with high powered coupes such as the G35 that cost 5k less comparably equipped feature wise. Of course with BMW, you pay for the prestige of that badge and other things they do well, such as suspension tuning(sporty, but comfortable), steering feel, brake feel, performance oriented/non-intrusive ESC tuning..etc

Even though BMW has the M3, this car is too much for most consumers. Especially the price and most consumers simply cannot drive their cars hard enough to fork down the extra 10k? for the M.

Next M3 might be closer to GT-R territory, BMW is stickin a V8 in from what I heard.

i've been in an M3... the same one that Echo was in (but i was in it first). anyhow, it was a fast car. i LOVED riding in it. i mean, i'm down to get an M3, but i'm a poor motherfucker and i'm wondering how long it would take for me to cop one.

Enjoy.. in bmw's history this is always true about innovation... The first direct injected twin turbo bmw engine > bubonic plague

try this on for weight 300hp. 300ftlbs at 1500rpm.. great low end... twin turbo direct injection 0-60 in 5.5
The 328i with no turbos and extra crap comes in at 6.5 and is $6000 cheaper... WTF!
In terms of power output and 0-60 times to show how much this thing weighs.. I'd be pissed for my twin turbo direct injected super vanos'd 3L inline 6 $45,000 ultimate driving machine bmw to get beat off the line by um... a honda accord v6 NA with it's simple iVtec. cause yeah it would be a close race.

not that I'm bashing bmw but they just don't get the HP thing.. and those cars have been on the supersize me diet for almost 10 years. Last years 330 sedan had 255hp and was about half a tick slower 0-60.. adding all that shit onto it to get an extra 45 Hp isn't exactly moving forward...

FYI.. I've had an e36 and e46... and even a '69 2002ti Alpina and out of all of them the 2002 would beat them all given a dry track and a sunny day.. just feels like sometimes over 40 years they've only improved on leather seats and marketing..

I dunno, as an owner of both an e30, and then an E36. I can tell you the spirit was actually quite strong with the E36, I found it to be more of a true "driver's car" than the e30. Now that we have an E46, yes, it's a fat, luxurious car, but it's fast as shit and handles pretty damn well for a car pushing close to 4k on the scales.

I'm sure some of the engineers at BMW are trying desperately to keep the name from just being a Mercedes Benz clone. You can still kinda feel that BMW spirit in some of the new cars.
