Dual tunes?

Ok so long story short: blew a heater hose, car overheats, headgasket pops. I have a set of ARP studs I haven't installed yet, picking up a new gasket, and plan a few other things while the head is off. BC 264's, new valve seals, whole lot of cleaning/freshening up. Here's my question: I have an Enthalpy tuned ecu in the car. I am considering going up from my 740's to 1000cc injectors, and retuning for E85 since it's plentiful around here. BUT I drive my car a LOT, on road trips. 1k miles a month ago to SC, regular trips to TN. E85 is a bit harder to find on the road. So, is there an easy way to get a dual tune so I can switch to 93 octane if i can't find E85 on the road? Can it be done with an Enthalpy ecu? Nistune? I'd rather not go standalone, so if that's the only way I'll stick to regular 93 octane. Thanks in advance for any help.

btw: running a Garrett GT2871R turbo along with the other supporting mods, if that makes much difference.

I Have an Emance tune, similar to enthalpy/JWT. I ordered a dual tune, its actually an extra set of the dual 8bit chips. U just open up ur ecu and swap them out when u wanna swap fuel. It was only like an extra 50 bucks to get the dual tune. Works great for me, since like u said e85 is hard to find on the road. not to mention 200miles in one gas tank would be a miracle.

enthalpy supports dual tunes. once its set up, all you have to do is flip a switch to switch between maps. it can even be done on the fly while the car is running, no swapping chips.

If you do consider nistune I do dyno tuning on it. I also have lots of experience tuning with e-85. If you want me to do your tuning hit me up. I can point you in the right directions on a few things

I spend a lot of time driving back and forth from Louisville KY to Nashville TN, and there is nowhere in between to get E85. That's the main reason I'm wondering about dual tunes. Its only 200 miles, and I can make that easily, but I have to drive around to different nearby towns a lot for work (construction). Since my car is already tuned for the 740's and Z32 MAF, if I added in the cams I know I'd need a retune for optimum performance, but would it be safe to drive that far? I can swap injectors and ecu pretty quickly to get it tuned for the E85 after I get there. Otherwise I'll be stuck looking for local tuners. If I get the Nistune, I was going to most likely order it from you anyway 4x4le lol.

why is your name idahotuner but order chips online? Just busting your balls but anyone that has ever tuned something knows the advantages and disadvantages of a custom live tune and a mail order tune.

You can do it with Nistune but you can't do it with a "switch". You have to use a computer to connect to the software real quick and load the different tune. Not a big deal, considering "retunes" are free, you get real-time tuning, datalogging, everything else you could imagine that you don't get with mail order stuff.

+1 Nistune

you could take the tunes you made with nistune, burn both of them on a chip and put the chip on a plms daughter board and be able to switch them back and forth. the plms daugher board will plug right into the same header that the nistune board fits in.

I personally am not a fan of switching back and forth between gas and e-85. Fuel filters seem to last a good while with either gas or e-85 but for some reason switching back and fourth seems to kill them.
Maybe a filter that a flex fuel vehicle could be retrofitted to work.
It would be important to make sure you were very close to empty when fueling as well.

LOL I was going to school for it then I realized the amount it was costing me I could keep it a hobby and pay some one else to tune my car several time for the same amount.

Well I tore the engine down, head is in rough shape. And found a lot of other parts that were broken and in need of repair, so the E85/new injectors will be waiting I guess. I picked up some 264's and all the other parts I needed, so I guess maybe in spring I'll be switching it. Depends on if all the trips back and forth From Louisville to Nashville are over. I love driving my 240 too much to drop it from its daily duties, even though I have 2 other (newer) cars I could use lol. I just don't want to get caught in the middle of nowhere with an E85 tune and no E85 stations.
