You have two hours unless you want tech at 10AM and start driving at 11am and get off the track at 5PM. Fine by me. Less work. |

best track day ever
as many of you noticed, we brought the LS1 FC, since we could not get the S14 done in time. we left san jose at 11pm on friday after working most the day on S14 and then saying fuck it and prepping the FC at the last minute. we were towing the FC behind the Dirrty Van, which is the biggest piece of shit rapist van. it has no exhaust and the steering and brakes don't work that well. after a few stops, we got to the front gate at 4am and drank beer until the sun came up. did tech and started lapping until the car sputtered and died. when luke tried starting it again, it exploded. oh yes, giant fireballs are so cool. luckily there was a 15lb fire extinguisher in the car. pushed the car back to our pit, and found out the fuel line had popped off. luke was about to go buy a bottle of jager and spend the rest of the day drunk, but we decided to see if we could fix it instead. we got the fuel line back on and went over all the places where the harness look burned. it seemed okay so luke started the car...and it was fine! somehow the car was allowed back on the track and it was business as usual. after we passed lost hills on the way back north, the van's steering got to the point of being extremely unsafe. it would sway back and forth and try to change lanes by itself. we pulled off to see what we could do. we considered driving the fc back and finding a truck to tow the van on its own trailer. how lame would that be? we had the idea of just unloading the car and seeing how bad the steering was with no weight pulling the front wheels up. as we unloaded the car, the front bumper broke in half. fuck. luke drove the van down this scary road and back, and determined that the van was safe (enough) to drive back. but then i noticed one of the tires was completely flat. we drove the van and car 7 miles to the next gas station, which was brand new and did not have air yet. so two more miles to the next gas one, where we the air nozzle was broken. so we got a can of fix-a-flat and it worked well enough to get us all the way back home. cliff's notes: didn't get the s14 done, so we brought the fc. the fc exploded, but we fixed it and finished the day. the van's steering almost failed and then it got a flat tire |
