sr20 or rb25?what should i put in it
some one help me out here i know theres alottt of shit for a sr20det motor but what about the rb25det what should i put into my s14 thanks ur help is very much appreciated thanks again

if u got the money for an rb25 do it!!!! just be ready to spend more money in the long run also. parts and maintanence are more expensive for rb25 as apose to sr

SR20DET will be more than enough potential for most here. The RB25DET you do when you have money to burn, insist on that nice sound, or absolutely must have more power than the SR is capable of.
An SR is a nice swap as it's about as easy as it gets, fits perfect and there is a ton of parts out there. RB is not that difficult, but everything gets harder, more expensive, etc.

Whats your plans for the car and got an HP goal in mind? If you want anything more than 400 whp, id rather do it with an RB25 than an SR. I think its easier for an RB to make than on an SR and be reliable in the long run.

The RB will throw more weight to the front of the car (up to 200lbs by some sources). The effect of this is debatable. Two the things the 240 has going for it are very good weight distribution and the light weight. How much that will be affected, I can't say, but it is on some people's minds. An RB be a much smoother than an SR, though, since you've got more cylinders firing per rotation. The stroke of the RB25 is shorter, too, at 71.6mm as opposed to 86mm for the SR.
I apologize if I'm being redundant, but you really need to decide what your intentions for the car are before the answer to this question will present itself. The amount of headache you're willing to suffer to source parts is something you should think about as well.

I think you should go with an SR motor. Those can be built super reliable to 350HP. After that you should get an RB. Yes it will throw weight in the front because i own a 240 with an sr and my friend has one with an RB, and its pretty noticable. 240's have pretty bad understeer already and RB adds to it. Plus my car is still faster than his.

Heres an idea
How about you decide what you want to do with your car. (street, drift, autox, drag, all of the above) Figure out what you are going to need to realize these goals. (hp numbers, reliability, weight distribution) Then do a little bit of research on the pro's and con's of each engine. Determine how much moooonies you are going to need to accomplish either of the swaps (labour, parts..) Come to your conclusion...install....and enjoy. No one can tell you what engine is "better" to put into your car. There are pros and cons to both of the choices but you need to be the one to figure them out and decide what works best for you. There is tons of information out there, you just need to fidn it. |
