I like my SR to shot fireballs like Ryu...*hadouken!* =P
yeah yeah... "SR cleaner than KA, but does it have EGR? NOx is the leading cause to the destruction of the ozone. That is why we have the EGR valve, to burn off the excess NOx. Which is the leading cause to the destruction of our precious ozone layer" blah blah blah, I dont give a fk I was being sarcastic on that last post.

We are on the same boat. Handling, aero and agressive wheel is a must have for me, SR and KA-T just give me more trouble also toss more money into the car. I recommand save your money for better car like Z, G35, WRX, S2000 or EVO. |

I too will prob just do simple bolt-ons...although trying to spin my 18s is hard with this KA. SR is cool but IMO, its not worth the hassle in dealing with 50. SDPD and CHP in San Diego know what to look for.

Honestly its kinda scary rolling next to a cop, like today heading toward gwc, 2 cops on my booty, they didn't do anything. Because I just drove normal, yeah I was little worried they might smell the fumes, but they just pass me and didn't even bother looking at me.

I was going like 65mph the entire time I was on the freeway.

Of course people have got their cars impounded. downshift_sideways had his impounded and had to pay like $2300 to get it out. The REF ticket alone is $371. Sure, having a beat ass car helps, but I know a guy with a beat ass car that still got pulled over. I swear by this... It all depends on the officer. I've had people in my area with slammed cars, fender flares, stickers, and crazy exhausts that have gotten pulled over and not even had their hood popped. Mine isn't so crazy, and I've had my hood popped every time I've been pulled over. Do you think people just make these stories up for the hell of it? |

Why doesnt it make sense? No one in the US is 'JDM' unless they have a true right-hand drive anyways...so what does it matter or whats your point? He wants his car to have the JDM kouki aero with the stock KA24DE. Not like no one else on this forum has that same exact setup. Its like saying your 1989 240sx is a RPS13 when in fact it isnt...its a 240sx.

SR is for jdm fan boys.
real men run big block v-8s in their 240s. if you have to second guess yourself on whether you should worry about putting a SR in your car, then you probably shouldn't do it. you gotta pay the cost to be the boss, kid. |

I cannot justify it.
If I ever put a SR into my car, I'd say a good estimate would be $5000 for my whole engine setup. I would NEVER want to drive it on the street after that. I'm scared just driving a stock KA with an exhaust. I don't know how people justify it. Aren't you bummed out when you get busted by the police and they sent you to the state or impound your car?

It's just a matter of who the cops want to pop. Plain and simple... Quote:
A cop can only impound the car if you're under the influence and not at a legal bac to drive, if your car is not properly registered and insured, or if you have a suspended license, OR if your dash vin doesn't match the firewall vin... It's pretty common place that engines need to be replaced in cars especially 10 year old cars so most of the time the serial number on the engine doesn't even matter unless it is on record that it has been stolen. They have no proof to verify the engine in your car is legit or not, even if you have paperwork for it. But it is still not a means for them to tow your car away. As far as sending you to the state ref... read above, they send people to the ref because they do not know what to look for or may be unsure your motor is even legal, I know people with stock motors that have been reffed... People want to be cool and run straight pipes on their car, that's an instant ref ticket. Throw a cat on your shit and they will give you a break for the most part.

If they police were "right or wrong" in the REASON for sending you to the ref does that change the END fact?
My point is. Has anybody been sent to the referee or impounded with a SR20? It doesn't matter if it was the proper procedure or not. If the officer profiles you because you are black/white/orange/red/clear/etc. it doesn't really matter in the end. You're getting fucked anyways. I said $5000 for MY engine. I wouldn't buy a bunch of used shit. I live in a higher class than that. I'm not going to reply to the rest of the stuff because I'm talking about getting busted for an illegal engine. I'm not talking about being lowered, having stickers, eating shit while driving, or jerking off either. EDIT: if some of that didn't make sense, forgive me. I don't want to / know how to do all that quote stuff. I'm also hungry. DOUBLE EDIT: It was Caddyshack.

Pulled over intoxicated, driving 15 miles over the limit 5 in the morning in a highly modified vehichle hasn't been legally registered for 6 months and not insured... I rarely never took that car out and the night I did I got popped. And luckily I got away with a speeding ticket and had to walk home and lock my car up. But it was not towed or impounded. Not bragging either but cops are not the enemy. It's the dumbshits who go street drifting, and racing and getting busted doing it fucking it up for us and making us a target. I don't even know how the San Diego guys even grow balls enough to put tint on their cars... The cops down there HATE imports mainly due to the san diego street racing scene from 8 years ago. I bet they still race out in Sylmar every weekend, and I hear ontario still has idiots showing up even though all of the old streets have speed bumps installed on them now. It's our fault as a community that we get targeted by the police. Not because the cops have nothing better to do. Quote:

Question...
I mostly skimmed through what you wrote. What does that story have to do about SR20s? My point is. If an officer pulls you over. pops your hood and finds a SR20. Sends you to the state referee. What does it matter if he was "right or wrong" in doing it? If I had the option of A. getting pulled over and popped with a KA B. Getting pulled over and popped with a SR I would sure as heck choose A. The one with the LEGAL engine. I wouldn't want to put thousands of dollars into an illegal engine, then drive it around and hope that I don't get busted for it. Fuck that. Last time I got pulled over in my 14 the officer asked me to pop my hood. I said, sure, here you go. Stock engine except for this cone air filter. Nothing to hide. No shitting bricks. EDIT: I don't like your idea of what MY sr20 would be. No thank you. It would actually be pretty basic, but a few NICE parts.

while that's true, I stick by my point. Driving around a KA 240 as opposed to a SR 240 is a wise choice.

i like when cops pull me over, it always seems to be a witless exchange...
cop: know why I pulled you over? me: because im drunk and high on cocain? cop: seriously? me: no, lol. cop: hahaha, license and registration. me: here ya go dude cop: got anything in your car I don't want to find? me: probably some used condoms I forgot to throw away... I know I don't know how I did that in here either. cop: haha alright man have a nice day.

I agree with Norm too.
TOO many ugly cars. If you have an ugly car, get our of here. I frequently wish I was a traffic cop.
