Before he bought it, I tried convincing him not to buy that car, cuz for $20k, I think there are better cars he could buy, because I had another friend who has an older one, which had problems with the engine at 20k miles. But he won't listen. Yesterday, his sunroof stopped working already, I know it's got nothing to do with the engine, but still, 3 WEEKS OLD. So he took it back to the dealer because he's got warranty, so now he rented a car to drive to work for a couple days.

well I knew they were bad but I wouldn't have thought that bad. I guess those extended warranty's they keep talking about come to use.
For 20K he couldve gotten an SE-R Spec V

Could have been an isolated incident. like my moms jetta. i was driving it one day and i lowered the window. i heard a grinding sound and then swoopm the window just fell down. the thing was only a month old, but that doesnt mean that vw makes bad cars, it was just a fuck up that got past the assembly line. now if like 300 cars all have the same problem, then yea theyre makeing shitty cars

which year Tiburon? The '03 Tiburon got excellent ratings all across the board
'03 Tiburon is actually a pretty nice car for a FWD... has a tendency to get this... OVERSTEER. Anyone see the '03 Rally Tiburon on WRC? That thing is stomping on a lot of the big teams

Sounds like you got owned by the infamous window regulator. They like to go out in 15k increments. Jeff

I was considering a tiburon before i bought my car. I was at the car show in december and got to sit in the car and everything. I've never got to drive it, but i think the car looks sweet. But it's still a HYUNDAI!! It's made in korea!! I mean people are more likely to think you are a cheap ass for buying a hyundai than what a nice looking car you got.

Count my family's old Passat in on this whole thing. Not the same problem, but within a 2 year time period the computer chip in the engine fried itself 4 times. Also half of the time the passenger doors would not lock with the auto lock, you had to lock them by hand...let's see, sometimes when you tried to put the windows up, they would automatically roll back down...VW's have hardcore problems...I'm sure there are more that I just can't think of right now. |

Toyota Camry, 3rd Gen. Front driver side window, almost ALWAYS a problem. I have to slam on the door panel while holding the button just to get it to go back the hell up....

My brother bought his 2000 Tib new about 2.5 years ago. He got it FULLY LOADED. Leather, sunroof, alloy wheels, sound package, powere everything, alarm, etc.
Since then...the alarm stopped working, the keyless entry stopped working a lil later, and other various plastic cheesey pieces on the dash feel off. The color has faded nearly 3 shades lighter and misc bulbs blow out ever 3k miles. He has replaced his h7 headlight bulbs at least 6-7 times. His car is a PIECE...thats all I can say about that. I will NEVER...NEVER...NEVER buy one of those "hyundais". -ryan |

If you get into any type of collision, doesn't the warranty go away?
This means for that 100000miles, let say someone hits you and does minor damage, you can't report it, cuz that would void the warranty and the person can just get away with it. |

Who cares, that's why they have 10year warranty.
And I think the new Tiburon is a very nice looking car, and the interior is very well designed.

I have a buddy with a tib. and he has had zero problems with it. 1st gen. with 60k miles, and drives like the day he got it. I think some of the problems with the cars could be driver related....you beat the shit out of a car, you car can become a piece of shit....not starting an argument...just my humble opinion...could be wrong.
I know someone's gonna call me an asshole now. Mark
