Haha, I say I want to stay safe and look what happens
That is my #1 spark plug. NEVER TAKE YOUR 240SX ANYWHERE IN ARKANSAS FOR ANYTHING. I swear I hate this place. I posted it in tech talk if you have any comments.

I had Steve dyno my car on the Dyno Dynamics and i only got 264whp. I almost cried lol i held it in though hahaha. My JWT tune runs rich though...wasnt even in the 11's for WOT A/F ratio.
my main power set up: GT2871r .64 264/274 cams Megan Ex. Mani and some other goodies McKinneys is helping work through this though. my FPR was at 40PSI but was running so rich i could even drive at one point...oh well the time will come where i will hit over 300whp on the DD. |

damn dude thats impressive. i have the .64 so i wont make that but i'll take 350whp hehe.
This shit is getting crazy though...it might be the injectors so we're sending them to LA to get tested...also, the conditin is getting worse...i'm taking it off the streets today for however long it takes to fix...it's so damn depressing...i've been drinking my self to sleep everynight... |

Basically you built a GT3071R with a 28R wheel. In most cases in my experience the reverse theory works best on SR's. Smaller housing huge turbine wheel, matching (in mass) front wheel, moderate sized intake housing. Interested to see the results though I think you guys should be very careful when evaluating comparing dynos: 1. Dynos work off a lot of correciton values, if one of these is off or the dyno operator is not fully versed the dyno will ready WAY HIGH or WAY LOW a. barometric pressure b. air temp input c. RPM inputs d. Dyno Type and applied load or mass of roller These will all make huge differences to the peak output number that you end up hitting. Most of the 2871R cars I have tuned have been very hodge podge setups. Meaning the injectors were not correct make/model, injectors were leaking, ECU was damaged or not working correctly, boost was dropping off and not holding at all due to faulty or improperly installed boost controller. I believe the 2871R cars usually produce lower outputs (Compared to all other tunes I have done) because the bottom mount 2871R crowd is one that is looking for the most cost effective options for the highest number. This means that many other solutions like fuel or other installation costs were also kept low for cost effective output. There needs to be careful decision making as a consumer who is really out for the best and most fulfilling setup in making the right decisions on cost and what demands and standards you keep your installers to. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7i3JX18cGPs One of the better 2871R cars I tuned was Jordan's - Jordan is extremely thorough and this shown through in the quality of his. 15-16 psi 100% stock motor with just a 2871R .64 with FMIC and PFC - we later found after Jordan left that we had the load set high on the dyno - so the car was actually reading about 12% or so less than it should have been. Here are some things to assure you get the most of your 2871R Turbo, no matter what tuner you go to. 1. Buy the right supporting modifications Most of the customers that I have that build high output SR20s build them with good supporting mods and have no leaks, no issues at all and all the high budget items have been purchased in the right places. 2. Make sure the shop that does/did your initial motor swap got you a high quality engine and did a thorough installation - including A. SETTING THE CAS INTO THE HEAD PROPERLY - TESTING THE CAS!!!!! I can't tell you how many cars I have had in with damaged CAS or improperly punched CAS so the base timing target cannot be properly matched or hit. This is essential to properly tuning SRs. I have had cars from the highest and most well know shops (you would be blown away) with bad CAS, that were dynoed on dynojets wtih Baro correction on just to get them the numbers they wanted and out the door. 3. Make sure your boost controller and wastegate setup are effective solutions and hold boost stready all the way through the rev range. I also highly suggest all of you start investing in the ATP external WG integrated housing. I usually don't support shops that I don't have a great current working relationship but I think this is the solution to all the 2871R woes for perfect boost holding and performance of the wg. 4. Again make sure your ignition system is in good condition, your grounds are done correctly and your ECU is up to the task. 5. Invest in the right EMS. If you are serious about reliability and consistency seriously look into investing into a Haltech EMS. AEM was not properly designed to work with the Nissan CAS and trigger wheel right out of the box and the steady state tuneability is not even close to efficiency as the HALTECH. Power FC is also a good option but I suggest going with Tomei Rytech - this unit is actually also made by the Haltech company (yep!) and is another great plug and play map based unit. Map based means tuning for ignition, direct X timing for Y boost - on pressure, this means more power and more reliability for a turbo car that is setup for performance. In the end the quality of the work you put into your own personal installs and the quality you demand from the shops that are frankly reaming a lot of you guys is what will make the dyno session and final output the best - give the tuner has experience and is familiar with your EMS. Thanks and PM me for smaller qs ill try to get back if I have time

Got new numbers after Steve work his magic. Steve is hands down the best, any cars tuned, Ima send it his way.... I gotta say magic, cause the gains are disgustingly sick. A lt better than I thought..... Myfirst dyno was on the dynojet was on 93 with HKS264 Step1's and now Same setup same boostlevel at 16.5 (same as before) but with steve's tune and 91 gas.....
Its neck snapping fast geezus.... 200lbs of tq at 4000RPM On a dyno dynamics, oh and still has a full cat with silencer stock IM and EXM.... I think that is enough or me.... Inspiration was Mine's 34 GTR, just focus on response....! Geezus I also just notice 295 Lbs of Torque at 4800 RPM.... Get a neck brace time!

I had a .86, oil seal went bad. bought .64
Same dyno, maybe a year apart. Tuned for the .86. 300hp is old one, psi spiked at 19ish then dropped to 16-15ish. and this was an ebay manifold. new 323hp is with stock manifold and psi hitting 16 and climbing to 17. aem shows hitting 16 at 3800rpm. Ignore AFR's wideband and dyno were .5 off. At 4kish it was 50hp gain and 70 lb ft. yes i know it could use some tuning, this was just a baseline. Cams are HKS step1 256, yes i know i need something better but 320hp is good for right now. unless someone has some S3's to sell me. |

For all the Power FC users:
found this thread with free database maps with users uploading their maps, i guess you can find the setup similar to yours and there you have a free map. original thread is from Freshalloy.com so i copied the OP's post into my own thread. http://zilvia.net/f/engine-tech/2486...base-free.html

So mi done dealing with McKinney motorsports and JWT. I'm going to Canyon Racer Motorsports for my rebuild and Steve for my tune.
My mods are: GT2871r .64 740cc TOMEI injectors Megan Ex. Mani (going back to stock) BC 264/264 cams JWT tune and some other minor things. Michael said that he can do the rebuild and he seems like a really great guy. more for the love of it kind of person. I hope do to with 9.0:1 compression pistons this time with a full rebuild head and block (replacing whatever is worn) and for a tune im going with Power FC L-Jetro for Kouki S14 SR and it will be tunes by the hands of Steve!! muahahaha...i came back from iraq and my car turned to shit! but this time I will go to the right shop that wont miss anything and will put everything they have into my motor. I'm not sure what i can get on a DynoDynamics dynometer but i will post up once things are done.
