Hey guys,

I have a fully built sr20 tuned with a AEM v2 and map sensor. It starts up and revs fine until it hits 4k and backfires and will not rev past 4k. Zero boost leaks as I tested it. Any ideas would be appreciated or if you are super familiar with AEM and want to read my data log.

Again AEM v2 with a map sensor.

Just curious as to if the 2 step was set up incorrectly?

Have you checked the coil packs ? Boost leak test ? What about your plug gap and heat range ?

Coil packs are good, they have spark. That was my first assumption.

No boost leaks, I bought a tester.

Plugs are BKR7E gapped to .27.

Spark doesn’t mean they are good. Can you swap with a known good set. Or put yours in a good running car?
Typically failing coils will fire under light load and breakup badly once you start to get under more load

I changed out the coil packs and no changes. I'm stumped!!

what does your wideband read when this happens??

How much boost? I remember with stock coil packs, my engine worked better with the copper plugs. As soon as I switched to the ls style coil packs, I switched to iridium plugs and those worked better.
