I really like this and curious to see how it is. I saw someone doing this i forget where but they liked it. I don't understand why there are some people hating on it, especially the 300zxclub. It's your car not theirs.. I bet you're going to have so much more room in the engine bay! I dred working on my vg -______- Good luck, can't wait to see it finished!
Edit: btw i think your z looks legit as fuck Last edited by SlowZ32; 05-10-2013 at 05:43 AM.. Reason: words |

I'm not a fan of red cars,
But GOD DAMM!! I love the way you have yours setup, it's nice and low, great fitment, not rat bagged missle status. Your doing a good job, keep it up, and I look forward to updates for a finished product and maybe even a video of it running Kudos!!

Sr20 z32 seems like an excellent idea to me. Now you can actually work on sit.
Should be easy to break into the 350 range and that'll be a massive increase from a vg/NA. |

This is a very awesome build! So much win. I had a na z32 and wanted to do this sooo bad but ended up with a sr20 mx83 Before it came out a bit later.
To s12drifter shut ur mouth the z doesn't weigh 3500lbs, my mx83 was 3450 would burn through 2nd and into 3rd on a near stock s13 blacktop with minor bolt ons and boost (massive 195 tires though . He doesn't seem to be building a drag car does he...? It's his car if he wants a sohc d15 non vtec in it who cares? Have you ever done a vg30dett swap? I did what a [email protected] show that was and never again. |

VG30DETT is a pig you need to use your head to do things over complicated but for a good reason. you dont need to build a drag car to drift or track or do whatever the fuck you want, it's about being smart and using your head. Quote:

How is it bad, this SR will drastically reduce his weight, will bring the car closer to a balanced 50:50 weight ratio and it will be a hall of a lot easier to work on, not to mention parts will be cheaper and less time will be spent working on it.
On top of that the polar moment of the car will also be reduced. |

the VG30 is more reliable then the SR any day of the week. if you wanna be a pussy and you dont know how to work on a VG30 then thats fine, not many people do, it actually takes brains to work on a VG30... thats alright stick to your SR20. VG30 is WAY more drive-able then a SR. he could have gone VK, VH even VQ and their all better then a SR. |

I own and been working on Z32's since 2004 I've worked with Specialty Z, Performance Motorsport, Real Auto Dynamics, and Flawless Rides. I can tell you there is Absolutely no downside to doing this swap for anything other than a Drag car. in lamest terms Adding HP will make you faster in a straight line, Loosing weight will make you faster all around. Franklin's car had a N/A VG with 260K miles. He is taking about 150-200lbs off the front end of his car, and adding 50-75hp before tuning, and about 150whp after tuning. there is absolutely no downfall to the SR20 swap in his car. -Juan |

the VG will still have too high of a polar moment, but I have a feeling that you don't even know what the polar moment of a car is. VG30: at the track something goes wrong, your packing up. SR20: something goes wrong, fix at the track and your back racing/drifting |
