s14 axles power limit?
HI guys, after doing some searching I can't find a definitive answer on just how much power stock s14 axles will take. I have heard people say they will break anywhere from 400 to people saying they can handle 500 something. I am trying to go single on my 1jz and I am wondering if I will need to buy axles. I am planning to have 400-450whp. And if I need them, I was thinking of getting the driveshaft shop rear axle bar upgrade rated for 500hp.
So anyone on here with around 450hp s14's that drift them, did you have to replace your axles?

if you're drifting they should be fine. they will only usually break under traction. so if you are gonna go to the strip everyonce and awhile i'd say go the safe route and upgrade them.

Yep, usually under hard launches with little to no slip is when they pop...

So basically if I had like 400 at the wheels you think they would handle drifting? I don't think I would ever run slicks but I do enjoy going to the dragstrip occasionally. I guess I could just launch it nice and easy.

I had 360whp with my old setup on low boost and took the car to the strip. I had radials on it. However, I never had launch control and my 60fts were 1.9s. Preloading the drivetrain helps a lot, so does slipping your clutch. If you're out there dumping the clutch with sticky tires, they won't last.

run them till they break, stock 6/2 axles didnt break on me. Altho i bogged and didnt get full power it held up enoug to pull the wheels up. once you do just upgrade to J30's or Q45/Z32 call it a day

Yeah, I guess there is the whole j30/z32 option. I doubt I will ever hook up because I will never be running actual slicks. Just street tires.
