Hey, I would rather it be my Niners, but if it means we won't have Tim Tebow jammed up our asses every Sunday I can accept it.
Tebow should probably go ahead and start his televangelism/political careers now

Tom Condon, master manipulator.

Manning gets what he wants, Smith now has a way better bargaining position.

I know it sounds odd, but I'm rather upset to see Manning go to the Broncos. :/

Does it have anything to do with the Broncos being among the bottom third in the league as far as sacks allowed, combined with the fact that Tebow escaping the pocket – something that Peyton LITERALLY cannot do – saving that number from easily doubling?
I seriously worry about Peyton’s surgically repaired neck in Denver, and that is being totally honest. They lack the receivers that Peyton will need and only barely have the run game. I guess a defense that kept Tebow in striking distance will be even better for Peyton, but his lack of mobility will require that they make some major moves in the interest of keeping him upright and therefore out of a wheelchair

Correct on all points. Now it is possible he can make his receivers into talented assets, but it's the o-line that I'm iffy about and would not want to see Manning end his career in a negative way.

I would have preferred he go to the Dolphins (pre Marshall trade) or the 49ers.

Guess the Denver $$$ was too good to pass up. Good luck with that O-line.

I guess this means Smith back to SF and Tebow taking his talents to south beach? LOL, this whole sit. has been a fucking mess for everyone besides Manning.

According to Peter King the reason he didn't go to the Titans because he would be turned off by the the media circus it would become. The reason for not choosing 49ers is that Super Bowl or bust would of bugged him.

Peter King is a fucking idiot.

I'd take anything he posts with a truckload of salt.

Proof.

Peter King invents, then squashes Brett Favre-to-Texans rumor - Shutdown Corner - NFL*Blog - Yahoo! Sports

Quote:
Originally posted Nov. 27, 2011
When you saw the unfortunate news that Matt Leinart(notes) went down with a broken collarbone Sunday, were you thinking that the Texans would then call Brett Favre(notes) and ask him to come play quarterback for them?

No? You weren't? Well, Peter King of NBC and Sports Illustrated said you were, and I have no reason to believe you over him.
Also, BREAKING NEWS:

Despite repeated imaginary inquiries from fans, the Houston Texans have confirmed that they will not make an effort to re-animate the body of Otto Graham and start him in Week 13 against the Falcons.
Judging only by my own lack of Favre contemplation, and the surprised reactions of Dan Patrick, Tony Dungy and Rodney Harrison(notes) at the mention of Favre, I can only guess that not everyone was going to ask about Favre becoming a Texan. I'm certain it would've never crossed my mind. Favre has been King's go-to story for years, though, and I guess he's not ready to let go.
Maybe he'll find it easier now that Patrick, Dungy and Harrison pretty openly mocked him. I'm not certain of the voices, but someone asks, "Who's asking that?" about the Favre comeback, and someone else asks Peter, "Did you make that up?"
You can probably answer that for yourself.

Manning went to college in Tennesee and is already a god-like being there. To bring him back as a pro would be INSTANT pressure.
SF was two boneheaded plays (NOT by the QB, mind you) from the Superbowl, and therefore the expectations would be IMMEDIATE to turn that corner.

... and then there's Denver, whose fans clamored for a still prettty bad QB and accepted a win streak against bad teams as an edict from God himself, and considered backing into the playoffs to be blown out by the Patriots some kind of moral victory.
There is no pressure to win somewhere where no one takes the team seriously to compete for a championship anytime soon.

David Garrard in, Yeremiah Bell out... And Stephan Ross wonders why the Dolphins have the lowest season tickets sold since pre- Don Shula era. Next the Dolphins are going to give up 2 numbers 1's for Tim Tebow... The Miami Dolphins are the worst franchise in the NFL... Hell the Knicks are better run than these bunch idiots.

2 first picks? That the word on the street?!?! Well, in Dolphin's defense tho, if they get Tebow...you won't have to worry about games not filling up. He is a FL product so he will pull the whole Tebow mania with him. As a Bronco's fan...Yall can have him for a pack of stokes.

Make that 2 offensive linemen and at least one deep-threat receiver and the deal looks better

Well, they're already talking about picking up Saturday and Clark so that might help the line a bit and reciever. I just cant believe he picked Denver. Denver made some sense before the 49ers came into the picture. I'm sure everybody thought he'd be a shoe in for the 9ers. Not sure if the reason why he didnt sign with the 9ers is true, but if it is, thats some bullshit excuse. Almost sounds like he doesnt care much on getting that 2nd ring...

My biggest gripe: 5 yrs/$90M for a 36 yr old QB with 4 neck surgery, who 5 months ago, people weren't sure if he'll play in the NFL again? Correct me if I'm wrong, I was under the impression that when you get cut/released, you still make all the guranteed money thru the contract? So if after 1 year, he gets hurt and doesnt play again, he still gets all the guranteed money thru the 5 yr total?

The thing as well, as anyone who watched in Indy, is that Peyton will pretty much serve as the offensive coordinator, which will be fine with John Fox whereas it would NOT be with Harbaugh. If they let Tebow come in and force them to let him run a college offense, we KNOW Peyton will get his way, they will win some games in the regular season and be manhandled in the playoffs.
It’s also been said that he did not want to play in the NFC – where I seriously think he disliked the idea of being anywhere NEAR Brees, Rodgers, his brother or (to a lesser extent) Mike Vick.

Well, the Broncos haven't released how much of the 96Million is guaranteed.

I'm sure that the contract is laden with incentives and safeguards against injury, so I wouldn't sweat it that much.

There's no way they'd risk such a huge sum on the possibility of Manning ending his career on the first sack of the first game.

The keys to the franchise were to be assumed with wherever he went, which is why Denver was such a strong possibility all along, given the fact that he had that luxury with Indy, which cost everyone their jobs. Look how Denver bent to Tebow's will last year. No way in hell Peyton was going to get that in Tennessee or San Fran.

Question now is, how well will he adjust to the mile high, cold weather/outdoor game?

Also, you think theyll try to get Hines Ward? I'm surprised nobody has signed him yet...

Hines Ward is going to have a presser this afternoon.
The consensus is that he's going to announce his retirement.

It's more likely that they'll tender Mike Wallace. The deadline is April 20th.

EDIT: Breaking news. Hines Ward retires. http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_yl...-steelers-ward
Quote:
PITTSBURGH (AP)—Longtime Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward retired on Tuesday rather than try extending his career with another team.

The decision comes three weeks after Ward was released by the Steelers in a salary cap maneuver. The 36-year-old Ward is the franchise’s all-time leader in every major receiving category, including receptions, yards and touchdowns. Ward said following his release he believed he “still had some football in him,” but changed his mind.

Ward was the Most Valuable Player of the 2006 Super Bowl after catching five passes for 123 yards and a touchdown in Pittsburgh’s 21-10 victory over Seattle.
The four-time Pro Bowler saw his playing time decrease last season behind Mike Wallace and Antonio Brown. Ward finished with just 46 receptions, the fewest since his rookie year in 1998.

Don't you think that now he's playing in a weak division, there's an expectation that playoff run is a lock and possibly the SB? I can't think of too many tough teams in the AFC.

So if after 1 year, he gets hurt and doesnt play again, he still gets all the guranteed money thru the 5 yr total?
If he gets hurt during the first season, he's only guaranteed money for that season. He must pass a physical before each season before any of his salary is guaranteed. This is just my over simplification of the deal.

^^^HAHA...but remember, he made the Broncos a playoff team!!! I would laugh my ass off if Smith got too butt hurt and decide to say F-you 9ers, then they got Tebow. Then what if Harbaugh makes his magic again, turns another suspect QB into a real playoff QB?

Syke...Tebow will never be an NFL quality QB. One thing will always stand out that says it will never happen. Average completion rate for ALL QB last year was roughly 63-64%, Tebow was around 46%!!!

I dont have a problem with alex smith coming back if he can "manage" us to another playoff.

I will NOT accept tebow as a game winning QB in any sense of the words.
