I think that an explanation of the different weights of oil should be in the FAQ section, I see that asked a lot. I also think that the SR20, KA-T, CA18 argument should go in there. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sly.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':sly:'>

Wesson or Crisco....Oh, wait....we're tawkin' motor oil. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/hehe.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':hehe:'>
I don't use synthetic cause mah car has sooooo many miles on it. (not good in high mile engines) I use Havoline 10w40, year round. I've been usin' it fer many years in all mah different vehicles and have had good results. I've never found any "gunk" build-up inside of any engine that I've used it in and it's lots cheaper than synthetic. Besides, if you change yer earl regularly (3000k mi) then it really dosen't matter. IMHO Most folks use synthetic cause it lasts longer and they don't have ta change it as often. I do use Mobile 1 in the gearbox and rear end fer that very reason. Seems ta shift more smoothly. HRG

Anyone else here hear about Mobil's unfortunate in-giving to corporate (competitive) pressures from Castrol? The infamous "Mobil 1" is no longer a true "synthetic" (in the tri-synthetic AOP/APO/whatever base stock sense) oil. It seems they've added some regular 'type III' (or whatever) stuff into their base/stock/whatever...
hahaha.. I'm so sorry this is not turning out the way it's meant to- I just don't know jack about oil, and am trying to recite something I read somewhere else. In any case, the new mobil 1 that's on shelves in stores is already the "new" formula, which isn't necessarily improved. In fact, most suspect it's inferior to the "old" Mobil 1 blend. I'm sure you can find a good deal about this new conspiracy on the web, but I can't (unfortunately) provide any good links. -AD |

Mobil 1
<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''> Man I knew something was up with that new Mobil 1 SuperSyn or what ever they renamed it. Me and my friend changed his oil and the new SuperSyn looks darker than the old full synthetic. I guess if they mixed in organic oil then that would make it darker. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/hmmm.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':hmmm:'> No Sir I Don't Like It <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/hmmm.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':hmmm:'>
