HELP!!! Car runs like ass. 1997 240sx KA24DE Finally got it back together.

Ok guys I'm looking for some help. It's been a long 3 months now that I have had this car. Lets give a run down of what I have done to the car.

Engine has been removed and the front main and rear main were replaced, new water pump, and new clutch. Now I had to rebuild the head as well. I did that correctly, kept everything in order and put it back in the same spot I took it from. Nothing got out of order. Car is back together and it runs like ass. Ran like ass when i got it but it runs much better now, just bogs and feels really really underpowered. Won't hold an idle. Can't get the IACV adjusted right.... I have a lot of plugs that go to nothing. The guy removed the EGR stuff and I have 3 or 4 plugs that go to nothing. I had to change the wiring harness cause he hacked up the last one. My car doesn't want to idle, it backfires quite a bit, pulls like crap. I just can't figure out what the deal is. Timing is right, I've done it twice and had someone else do it. The timing chain is on correct. I had it off two links I want to say the first time i did it. This wouldn't cause me to bend a valve would it? I just really need some help with all of this.

does it sound like its misfiring? possibly leaky or clogged injectors. start the car and take off each injector clip if you dont notice an idle difference something in that cylinder isnt firing correctly.

backfire most likely means your running rich. check your maf also. start the car and unplug the maf. if there is no difference then remove and replace.

hope this helps a little.

I was thinking about it being the maf actually. I did the injector test already and the spark plug test where u pull one and reapply and if it runs like ass disconnected then it's fine. Anyway with that said I have an extra maf at the house I'm gonna swap on today. I feel like it is running rich. It's been burning through the gas.... Also there is no rear 02 sensor. I'll take pictures in like an hour of the plugs that are unplugged and post them up. The 4 plug rear 02 sensor off the tranny/lower engine harness is not hooked up. I have the front 02 sensor hooked up. You don't think it could be bad do you? Ran just fine without it the other day actually..... hrm... I forgot to mention that. We started the car up and it ran like it does now without the front 02 sensor plugged it in and no change.

not 100% sure but i doubt an o2 sensor will do what you say the car is acting like right now. try the correct maf ka24de. then try to put in the o2 sensors.

the single cam maf will not let the car run fully right. its only good for ka24e and the sr20det swap.

i guess after try a compression test. your iacv could be bad too. faulty fuel pressure regulator could cause the car to bog.

also a leak in your intake manifold...im just trying to put out the ideas as it could be anything. just take it one step at a time youll figure it out.

No one said anything about a single cam maf.... I only have OBD 2 stuff.... Anyway I am actually going to test the compression today and a leakdown test tonight. My friend is bringing his leak down tester.... The iacv is a pain in the ass.... Possibly the FPR.... Ugh it could be anything. Never buy a used car again.... jk
