the fuel flow limit is too low. past 11.5k rpm there is no gain. So no one is revving to 15k.

Weird turn of events. . . very happy with the podium results but on a technicality robbing second place?

Great race weekend overall. Race was real exciting in the first quarter, pretty much uneventful after that.

FIA is full of shit.

One of the most exciting races I have watched in quite awhile. I actually want to watch it again it was so good. Now if they can only do something about the damn sound of the engines. Lol Actually the engines are rev limited pretty hard this year. We are not seeing 16-18k shifts anymore.

I actually think if Jean Todd would loosen up the regs a bit to allow higher revs we would get back some that high whine and shriek. Of course it would also make the teams have to work harder on the reliability.

They are rev limited based on the fuel flow available. They are allowed 15k but no one goes to that. Barely 11k.

that was a great race, the best in a couple seasons.

Love it. Both Nico and Lewis have excellent racecraft and they respect each other but you can tell that they both will do anything to win. I think that Nico probably understands the format better but Lewis seems to be able to find that extra tenth whenever he needs it. Absolutely fascinating racing. Say what you want about the v6 turbo era of F1 but I absolutely love everything about it!

yeah definitely. Such good competition this year, although Mercedes created a 24 second gap in ten laps! The best race this year has been for 3rd place! All the competition is with the mercedes powered units. Did you see the president of ferrari turn in disgust? haha

Yeah, I think F1 needs to cut the crap on this whole being "green" thing. The cars barely get 5MPG for the entirety of the race. If they truly wanted to be green they'd stop racing.

Well I don't think they ever were doing it for cost concerns. It is truly amazing that they are about to go the same distance and within 1 second of last year already with 30% less fuel. The efficiency that they are able to produce is really cool.

Anyone else read this?

http://jalopnik.com/mercedes-f1s-sec...alf-1558154190

I think this is probably one of the coolest ideas yet.

One of many reasons. With the split turbo they can package tighter and they have less cooling requirements (smaller intercoolers=smaller sidepods=better aerodynamics). They knew that they were going to do this from the beginning so their car takes full advantage of it and it shows in their performance.

They also have their systems really well sorted. The brake by wire is throwing the balance off for a lot of teams. Williams in particular has a lot of electronic technology that they work with outside of F1 so they are one of the teams that have really gotten that right and it shows in their vastly improved form year over year.

Oh don't get me wrong there are things to like about these changes .Though I do feel that the whole greener thing is rather ludicrous. I mean if you are going to talk green just stop racing combustion engines all together. Impressive as the reduced fuel consumption is it's still nothing to get excited about. IMO

I just feel the whole high revving shriek of the engines was an electrifying thing that added to the spectacle and vibe that made F1 quite exciting for spectators. Taking that away was a big mistake in the promotions department. F1 is after all a money making enterprise and in that sense relies on the money paying spectator to spend the money to see it. If you take away something that e cites the spectator they lose interest and stop paying. Many people in the business including drivers have spoken up about this already pretty much saying the same thing I have pointed out here.

Yea I hear that a lot. Idk I've never really been a sound purest. I like all car sounds but I'm not particular. I drive a nasty V8 drift car now so I really don't care about sound haha.

true true & true. Also williams has massa now, & I forget the gent that came over from ferrari with him. Along with Bottas they have a nice lil' 1-2. Force-India is doing extremely well this year so far! Perez & the Hulk is a good team. Can't wait for the middle of the season, should be some great races. Really surprised mercedes guys didnt bump into each other & muck up the points.

Going back to what you said earlier about hamilton having that extra tenth, it seemed he just didnt care too much if the cars crashed into each other. Really making nico drive defensively. Senna-Prost rivalry here we come!

I was actually rooting for nico to finish ahead but lewis drove one heck of a race. Not a silver arrow fan but I must give them props. It was such a good race that I pulled out the old G25 and F1 2012 on the ps3 hahaha. I would have to say this was one of the best F1 race that I've seen in a while. Mostly because of the inter-team battles.

I don't know how that buffoon has an FIA license! lol

I think this shows they need to change the ridiculous regulation for the front nose as the cars are now scooping each other up. Same thing happened with Kobayashi in the first race.
