1990 240sx s13 starting problem!

Please read all information! Its as much as I could give. Sorry if its long and thank you if you decide to help! It means a lot as I'm trying to get the car running for school and other things.

Engine: Dual cam Ka24de

So a little bit ago I took my car on a couple 30 minute cruises, ran perfectly. (first time since I got the car that it ran for that long) On one of the trips I had stopped at, I went to start it and it didn't turn over or anything, so I turned it off and went to start it again, and it started normally, then took it home.

Next day came and I went not even 3 minutes down the road to food lion, when leaving, I went to start the car and it did it again, and I tried a couple more times to start it and it just doesn't want to turn over at all. I have all power and everything, just doesn't turn over. Jump starting it doesn't work, I pushed started it the first time and it ran okay but once it sat for literally a minute, it started to sputter then turned off. I pushed started it again and it just kepy back firing and then just turned off again. So then I had to tow it home and my brother in my car tried to start it while towing down my street and it did nothing. I checked fusses, switched some and stuff, on the driver side fuse box there's a click when trying to start the car and I don't know about that.

And come today, I went to check the ECU for codes, and the red light doesn't come on at all, and yes I have key in the on position. It's like its dead, and I looked it up and it says that that could make the car not start.

So knowing what I just told you guys, what do you think could be why its not turning over but yet I have power everything else?

Well I found a wire that was melted that goes into the main harness and runs through the ECU, so I was thinking that could possibly might be it?

Do you hear it prime when you turn the ignition to 'on'? If you do hear something maybe fuel filter? Try taking the feed line off and tturn it on. You need two people for that though...and a cup or something to catch the gas. If no gas...that's your problem.

I hear absolutely nothing when I turn it to "on" or when I try to start it. But I'll check that when I get home.

There is a couple of things it could be. Go ahead and pick up a 300zx fuel filter. cheap upgrade and will be helpful anyways. also make sure you hear the fuel pump priming the car when the key is in the "on" position.

If everything checks out there, if the car is not turning over what so ever try bypassing your clutch interlock switch and relay. make sure all your relays are working properly (probe them with wires to test them, if it starts after that then that was your problem.

Tps could also be the issue, might want to trouble shoot that.

Also make sure your battery and alternator are both in good condition (autozone can test these)

Just stuff off the top of my head. Regardless if its related to your starting issue, that melted wire you spoke of should be replaced. (not cut and butt connected but a whole new wire and re pin the connectors.

Hope this helps, Good luck.

Not yet, I'm at school for 3 hours every morning. But that wire I have no idea what its called or what its used for. It screws into the exhaust manifold and runs to the harness through my ECU. I can post a picture if needed to see if you know? And everything else I will try when I get the time, hopefully soon and I'll update back ASAP!

Here is a update. So come to find out, I had a bad started so I got a new one and now it turns over but doesn't start. My brother came over yesterday to take a look, he said that wire that was burnt was an 02 sensor. Found 2 other wires that were screwed up because they were rubbing on the belt.

Here is pictures of what I did to fix (butt connectors and stuff) and what it looked like. Still having the same problem, not getting power to the ECU and fuel pump. Also, sorry for the pictures being small, as big as image stack will let me do now.

http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/280...908/iTZ1Ck.jpg 02 sensor was what I was told by my brother

http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/280...674/1jwZH1.jpg Runs from exhaust mani into the harness

http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/280...913/HFmo7z.jpg I cut the burnt end off, got new wire and used butt connectors to try and fix it

http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/280...673/8ZtVYU.jpg another set of wires with 1 bad wire in it, used butt connector to try and fix it

http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/280...743/C61rV8.jpg and the 02 sensor runs through my ECU.

After replacing those wires did you test continuity?

continuity? And I didn't replace the whole wire, just the part that was burnt and rubbed off.

Well came to found out that my ENG CONT fuse was fucked, and I'm getting no power to the EGI fuse. Checked the ECU, looks fine but my brothers friend might have a spare so I'm gonna try that one and get the new fuses and see what happens from there.

I'm getting no power to my Eng Cont and fuel pump fuse. All the wires are fixed with butt connectors and I'm still not getting power to them. I don't know what else it could be. Poor connecting in the connectors possibly?

Alright I will, but all my wires are taped up and run through the harness so how can I check for continuity without removing everything? Or do I have to?

And what exactly does doing that do? It's new to me.

I tried it with the multimeter on one of the broken/repaired wires where the butt connector is and it beeped but had no idea what that meant.

If you could please explain that'd be great!
