After trying about 60 times to bleed my brakes, I finally figured out the issue. My rear calipers were on the wrong sides, meaning the bleed screw was on the bottom half of the caliper. This lets air gather in the top of the caliper, thus keeping the brakes from bleeding properly. Also, I adjusted the pushrod on the brake booster as well. Finally the brakes are done, the hydro is tight! I've still got it up on jacks right now but I'm finishing up some things (lengthening the o2 sensor wiring, swapping out my short shifter for a stock one to test the feel, etc.) before lowering it back down.
I ordered a 18v Dewalt cordless impact driver, <3 Amazon Prime, was here after two days and it works great. Strongly recommend getting one of these! Wheels are back on haha: Hopefully I can drive this thing tomorrow for the first time! |

I'm excited to say that I got to drive this beast for the first time in two years today. Still has an oil leak from one of the timing covers, gonna end up taking it off and resealing it again tomorrow. Honestly not sure if you'll see it this weekend. It needs a front end alignment baaaad. Wheels are wonky and steering wheel shakes sometimes. But this thing is fucking crazy man.

Here's the shaky video dad took off my first drive, with him riding along...the first time I had driven this car ever:
http://youtu.be/WkgcXmxkn9E By the way, that drift wasn't intentional, I just wasnt expecting the power... I never went over 1/3 throttle the whole video... |

Well small update. Got the oil leak from the timing cover fixed thankfully, now I've got a bad power steering leak. My rack is leaking so I've bought another from another member on zilvia. Hopefully it gets here ASAP because I want to get this thing moving! It looks like I'll have to replace the rear boots as well, they're both ripped.

Remove front timing covers, wire wheel the old RTV off of both the block and the covers, then dry everything off (very important) and reseal with RTV. I used Permatex The Right Stuff, it's amazing. $22 a can though but worth it to me.

Still waiting for my steering rack to arrive, but I ordered some poly rack bushings which got here today. Hopefully I can swap the rack out this weekend if the UPS man delivers but I doubt it. I also realized why my brakes felt goofy, I totally forgot about the check valve in the vacuum line running to the brake booster...so I ordered one of those from the same user Im getting the rack from.

I don't have the time or money for a project car right now and someday when I get another, it'll be nice to get a clean slate to start with. And I'll be going big single turbo 1JZ too
