s13 crank like 12 times before starting ka24de

Hi all,

My car is acting funny again... since yesterday, it takes quite awhile to start the car. It cranks, but it would not start till 5 seconds later.

The day before only took 1 crank to start, which is weird too. Usually it takes about 3 crank to start.

I've replaced the battery, cap and rotor, and spark plugs last week.

Any idea guys?

Thanks!

Normally if its the CTS it starts fine when cold and hard to crank when hot.

But check ECU for codes.

It happens both cold and hot. It gets better when hot, but the car is still not willing to start. The first 2 second after it starts, it hesitates for a bit then settle down.

I will bring it to the shop in an hour to check the cel codes.

So i just tried it couple times of starting the car earlier.

When the engine is still a little warm, it just starts right up.

Also check the code from the ecu, it shows up code 44... oh well

My friend who runs a shop also said that it could be the MAFS and coolant temp sensor; so i guess i will clean the MAF as well as the filter and change the coolant temp sensor.

Thanks guys!

So just a little update of my S13

I changed the coolent temp. sensor and the problem still exists...

once i'm able to start the engine, i need to gas it a little or the engine would die. After about 3 seconds it idles fine...

Mine is an auto so it doesnt have the starter relay.

One interesting thing i found is that if it is parked up hill, it's easier to start. On flat groumd its ok. Downhill takes forever.

Would this explain something?

check fuel rail for trash.(remove injectors and blow it out) sometimes a blocked or leaking injector will cause a slow start and not a direct misfire
