collegekid - That is a cool video, I can relate to what that guys said, after the 1st movie I didn't know much about cars either, and it did ignite the passion (or obsession as its referred to by some) for cars.

What a shame. I stopped watching F&F after the 3rd one, but I would be lying if I said the first one wasn't what introduced me to cars. Combined with how humble and active within the culture Paul was, it makes this the ONLY celebrity death that really bums me out. I get the guy was an actor and we only know his characters, but watching real life footage and interviews etc. it seems like Brian from F&F wasn't too far off the mark from his real life persona. In a sense that kind of makes it worse as it feels as if to some degree you knew him.
On a brighter note, peep his car collection. IMO its perfect, not too much and a great mix of performance/baller status and automotive culture that I am a fan of. Yahoo! |

It's Always Evolving's Garage aka Paul's personal collection. This video is FAAAAR more detailed than the yahoo link. But I agree... Perfect collection, IMO. |

Too soon, junior.
Whats mind boggling is the driver is a pro driver. It just shows the level of risk there is for anyone when it comes to performance driving. A lot of good is prob coming out of this. Its giving all of today's car enthusists an eye opener that it can happen to anyone on the streets. We can better advise the younger new generation of car enthusists to keep it on the tracks. It will be interesting how the FF franchise will unfold.

Heard or read somewhere that they were doing about a 100mph (was listening to Q100 I think) and that the tire could have bursted that cause the car to spin and crash.

Roger Rodas was not a professional race car driver. He was a 'Wealth Advisor' for Merrill Lynch, in fact he was PW's financial advisor. He's driven in eight races and written off at least one car in doing so. In other words, he's your standard rich guy who wanted to play race car driver, with much, much more money than talent. |

I don't understand the need for your disrespecting scolding. I mean, it kind of depends what you want to consider a pro. To me, you don't need to be a signed ALMS, NASCAR or F1 driver to be a pro. The drivers of FD are very much pros. The drivers of Global Rally Cross are pros. The top drivers of NASA and SCCA sanctioned series are very much pros. What does being a finaicial advisor have to do with taking away Rados as a driver? If you goto a local NASA weekend, you will notice many of those drivers are what you consider "rich" guys that self fund their race program with a few contingancy sponsors here and there. My point being, someone with a road race background has died. It puts into perspective the risks of driving, and how real they are.

Graham Rahal, former owner of the car and an actual professional racer, said it was a hard car to drive and that its claimed traction control would do nothing to save someone who couldn't handle it. I'm not trying to be disrespectful of the dead, but the coverage of this has been flawed. Roger Rodas was an enthusiast, yes, but he was not a racing driver. |

Both of you are correct. But this accident did not "put things into perspective" and people are making it more complicated than it has to be:
I'm not a man without sins as I do partake in spirited driving on occasion but was it that far out of perspective to think that driving that fast in a car (that a lot of people say is hard to drive) would have resulted in a bad accident? The simple equation is speed + loss of control is a bad time and it could mean your life. That's just the nature of what we have to accept if we choose to drive fast. Too much YOLO-ing without knowing or accepting the consequences can do that to people. Whether or not Roger Rodas was a professional or a weekend warrior does not matter. Anybody could have driven that car the same way and probably would have resulted the same exact way. Celebrities, weekend warriors, professional drivers, the broke as a joke enthusiast, your average joe, your standard rich guys all would have suffered the same fate had we put them in that car during that same moment. Cars don't kill people, people in cars kill people. It's just real unfortunate that Paul and Roger were in that vehicle when things went wrong. |

Fact is I have said it before. Carrera GT's are known for being very dangerousness I'll handling cars. Given this there was definitely driver error involved in underestimating the cars proclivities. It's genuinely sad but like others have said any driver pro or not could have crashed it. " make one mistake and it will kill you"

I don't think they need to make Sean boswell related to O'connor. Regardless of how they send off Brian, the tears are gonna be real. Every single scene from here on out ( if they still decide to finish the movie) is going to show some sort of reaction about his death. It WILL hit hard if/when the movie comes out. -_- |

Yup.
It's a good gut check regarding the streets and driving safely. I know my car has more power than it can stick, and it is a strong reminder not to push it on the street; leave it on the track where light poles and curbs aren't there.

R.I.P. Paul Walker
I hope they complete Fast 7 to honor him. It's possible they can get a stunt double and use some CGI for certain scenes. I don't see them continuing the franchise after that, but Lucas Black did sign on for three films....

I will go ahead and pay my respects once everything passes. I'm more than certain that there will be some idiots doing stupid shit that day.
I will say that I'm still in shock seeing the videos/pictures/reactions of his friends and family. Honestly, his accident has stricken me with fear how anything can go wrong no matter what car or 'skill' you may have. The "invincible" feeling that many get out of the adrenaline is seriously not worth your life. Nonetheless, in public roads. I did total my first S14 up against a pole in Fontana about 2 years ago for being an idiot, and Paul Walker's accident has left me in shock and as an eye opener that I got lucky to have a second chance. Much respect and credit to Paul for being a true car enthusiast and great guy with a huge heart. Thank you for expanding my love for cars and being someone I looked up to as a kid and still do. RIP Paul Walker. |
