Stock eBay turbo???..

Anyone here ever use a stock eBay turbo for the red top? If so how long has it been in use? Any suggestions or opinions on whether I should get one would be great....

But in a long run you will spend more money and time to replace it than just saving up and doing right the first time, without having a doubt.

As I understand it those turbos are hit or miss. Sometimes they'll blow after a couple revs after startup and others will last a while (thousands of miles). They are warranted though.

You'd be better off saving a while and getting a new brand-name turbo. Used turbos can be just as bad.

Well I saw a used garret t25 for 190 shipped... Add says minimal shaft play and it spins freely... I think it had 7 days warranty... I don't see why it would be a bad buy but everyone is always talking negative about eBay so I just want some input... Buy or no buy?

Just know there's a risk with used turbos, don't buy it if you're not prepared to handle them.

Also it's not eBay that's bad, it's some of the lesser brands that show up on there. It's not like a brand new Garrett on eBay's going to be bad. Some used ones should be okay too, use discretion.

I don't think he is talking about a Garrett turbo, I believe he is referring to the lesser, chinese-made turbos. Please don't buy those, just buy a used GOOD turbo, and rebuild it. It doesn't take a genius to rebuild them.

Have you considered the ISIS t25 replacement turbo?

I wouldn't really believe the 275HP(at the wheels at least) @ 12 psi as it says on enjuku, but ISIS isn't that bad and I'd use it at like stock boost (7lbs)

Hey I might just go for this... Correct me if I'm wrong.. The t28 is from the blacktop? This Isis turbo will bolt right up no problem right?

Yeah man the T28 ball bearing came on S14 SR's in general I'm pretty sure, and the S15's have dual ball bearing, I believe an S15 turbo is a GT28RS but I might be wrong.

Anyway, I'm sure that ISIS turbo will be good, and if not it has a warranty. You could always pick up a used S14 T28 and make great power for a daily driver/drifter.

I bought the ISIS turbo and it has slower spool, but it has more high range power. It has a 1 year warranty thru enjucku so how can you go wrong. It fit great with their SS turbo line kit. I'm very pleased with my results.

Interesting, I'm about to buy a rebuilt T25 from a vendor on here for very close to the same price as the ISIS replacement. Anyone with experience with one of these please let us know.

Yeah, I bought a Isis t25 turbo with a 86 ar exhaust wheel after my gt28rs took a crap. Honestly I love it. It boosts to 13psi with no problems. It's laggy til 7psi but has a great power band. I've put about 3500 miles on it so far with no hiccups. Turbos are hit an miss. I had a a small leak in my oil inlet and it blew my gt turbo. I'll never buy one again.

From what Ive heard from some local shops, chinabay(knockoff) turbos can be rebuilt with garret internals. The shop builds tons of evos, and they ordered a ebay turbo for the shop car to test the theory. Tolerances were a bit higher, but not everywhere, and not extreme. Did a little machine work and ordered garret internals, and ended up with a garret turbo for about half the price. Its been fine thus far. He said theyre going to order another one to see how consistent it is. Just throwing another option out there.

And you are asking for a stock replacement turbo aren't you? So don't expect like a HUGE difference in power.

It's a T25?.. who care's what it makes.

If you want to make a little more power or whatever just save up and get a t28 or a gt28 or it's equivalents.
