So i started the weekend off by going to get some AN fittings and steel braided line to make the remote oil filter.








then started working on my valve covers

i didnt take a picture of them painted, but heres one after the paint and hydrodip process.



and here they are installed after the clear coat.



i like how they turned out.

Got some spark plug wire boots to keep them from melting since they're real close to the manifolds.

So I filled the trans with fluid Sunday night. No leaks at all and it seems fine.

Last night, I put the valve covers on, tightened them down and since that concluded the long block and all my oil lines, I decided to pour in my 7 qts of oil. Kept checking for leaks and about 5 minutes after pouring in all of the oil, i notice a drop on the ground... FML.

I jacked the car up and got a flash light to trace the leak. Turns out, there are 2 pinhole leaks in the welds of the pan that I must have missed when I checked it for leaks last time. This puts me in a pickle. I can either scuff the pan and get some crazy super duper high temp epoxy and patch it temporarily just to get me to ATL in 2 weeks, or I can drain the oil, drop the crossmember, remove the pan and reweld the pan when i have the car on the lift, but thats going to take like 5 hours away from other work that needs to be done...

let me know what you guys think..

Patch it. You think there would be debris if you just tacked it though? Oh and you can prob use my trailer, I was just gonna drive lol. And if I don't make it we can put my dealer tag on your car.

so i took the oil pan off, fixed it and reinstalled it. no more leaks.

completed the full exhaust, all the way to the tip.

primed the oil pump, set the distributor and installed the plug wired with heat resistant boots.

finished all the intercooler piping completely, just need some couplers and clamps.

now here's the bad news: I put fuel in it and went to prime the pump. i saw that the pump was leaking fuel. I took the pump off and started replacing the seals in the pump when i went all butter fingers and dropped the pump to the ground at about 4 and a half feet. It cracked wide open... theres no repairing it.

after bumming real hard at the fact that i need a 400 dollar fuel pump for the night, i contacted my rep at Assaultech and he's getting me an A1000 aeromotive pump overnighted and i'll have it tomorrow.

Just a quick update.

my daily has been giving me a bunch of issues so I haven't really had time to work on the racecar. Well yesterday i got a chance to pick up some piping to relocate the wastegate, some AN fittings and a custom high pressure stainless line for the power steering. I'm going back to the shop today to finish up the power steering and the wastegate should be done by late this week early next week. I also got a retune on the ECU since the previous tune ran way too rich.

after that, i should be ready for dyno and tire shredding. I'm signed up for an event on october 28th, so thats my new deadline.
