did i just sieze my engine..
So I got home today and parked my car in my garage after letting it idle and cool down and noticed some smoke coming from under the hood, so I immediatly turned off my car, and noticed my fans were not working ( there dual electric fans with a on/off switch ) So I popped the hood and my over flow was smoking.. I checked my temp gauge and it was at H so i fiddled with the switch till my fans turned on. I let it cool down all the way and now it won't even turn over..
YES IM AWARE IM A STUPID FUCKING MORON I checked the dipstick and theres no sign of coolant, just looks likes oil. I checked the rad fluid and theres still lots of coolant in it.. My question is.. am I that stupid and just sieze my engine.. |

try putting a socket on the crankshaft pulley and turning it. if it moves - no, its not siezed. does the starter make any kind of noise? like its trying to engage?

i got a socket on the crankshaft pulley and it spun freely so its not siezed!!
but now I gotta figure out why its not starting.. the starter isnt even trying, im thinking its either a bad wire, the starter, or starter relay, |

That's good news at least. You need to figure out why it got so hot though. Check all of your connections to the starter and check your battery voltage during cranking. If it starts, you need to determine if your thermostat and water pump are working.

no doubt something in ur wiring of the fans cause a short with ur starter or such
start by making sure the starter isgrounded properly and recieving 12v. then if it still doesnt crank, beat on the starter a few times(with a metal rod or something u can get in there.) see if IT is in fact siezed.

Esp if you have a FMIC, you need the fans running at any speed below ~50. I overheated my SR once by not turning on the fans, but luckily it didnt cause any damage. |

technically, it doesnt run all the time because of the clutch. but i know what youre saying. i removed that fan on all of my 240's first thing and replaced them with electronically controlled fans. if you run an fmic - and i do - it doesnt block the radiator. theres more than enough room in there for it to flow. my sr never gets over a 1/4 on the gauge. fans running while youre going down the road will actually block air flow. to add this - he said his fans werent working... the default for the clutch is to lock up so he must not be running a mechanical fan.

Yup, cuz thats what the mechanical stock fans do...they stop spinning when you're driving. There is no clutch on the stock fan, its not like a AC pulley clutch if thats what you're thinking. They spin contantly, only thing that happens is they dont spin as fast as the engine when it gets up in the revs.

it does indeed have a clutch. as the clutch heats up, it grips the shaft on the fan and spins it faster. as it cools - when youre driving, it relaxes its hold. we dont know though at what point his car started to overheat - while he was driving or while he was idle. thats the important clue we need to know. |

I have a feeling u blew a headgasket, crank the engine with radiator cap off if u see coolant gushing out while cranking for sure u blew a gasket or cracked/ warped head, or try doing compression test

I don't know if Canada has pep boys or auto
Step one your car is two weeks old so you have no clue the condition of the wiring or the age/ condition of the battery Get it test see if it's good you will always need a good battery Check and tripple check all wires and cables especially if your battery is in the trunk If all wire and voltage check out Take out the starter depending on how mechanically incline you are it will take 20 mins with a ratchet wrench. You will need a ratchet wrench or it will take a long long time and you will need a length of thin rop or an old shoe lace. Take starter to autozone checkers Pepboys get it tested You will not need a whole new starter just the selonid the little thing were all the wires connect to the starter they run 15 to 25 bucks a new one a used so so starter will start at 100 bucks |
