S14 RUCA on S13 = Clearance Issues

So people here were telling me I wouldn't have any issues running S14 rucas on an s13, so I got some ikeya formula ones and tried them out. They have serious clearance issues. Please examine the pics, there is maybe 1 mm if any clearance between the ruca and the coilover. Am I right to assume this is not safe and get ones actually made for an s13?

Pics:

common problem. swap sides and it should be good
there was a thread on this. it was for a pbm ruca but it should be the same.
i forgot who made the thread though. a quick search should find it

Ok I found that, I have the left on the left side, I know this because there is a big L sticker on it, but I will try the right side one and see how it fits...

I like the full wishbone style S13 upper arm.

Wow, that's a sad remark. The hub/upright is the same for both models, including the locating points.

Perhaps It's just the combination of your Coilover and Ruca..

I have S14 battle version rucas, and some Silkroad coilovers.. ( the coilovers aren't very fat & neither are the rucas) So maybe that could be the reason?? Here's a pic from my car..

every other arm I have is stock.

this is the passenger side BTW.

Damn... I guess I just got unlucky =/ Guess it's time to search for new RUCA's... Well there is one more thing I can try; try the right side on the left, see if that changes anything...

S13 and S14 work on each other, just S14 OEM style is different than S13.

this is great news, a friend of mine has s14 arms for mega cheap. this info will save me a ton of cash, just hope it clears stance.

EDIT: i was just thinking, i noticed you have stock traction rods, if you had aftermarket ones wouldnt you be able to shorten up and itd pull the RUCA away from the coilover? i always set my traction rods about 7mm shorter than stock, another 7mm of clearance would be solid id think. if it works that way that is.

why wouldnt you mess with traction rods? shortening them makes a pretty huge difference in grip especially sideways.

I think it was just the way Ikeya Formula made them... The Apex N1 EXV's are pretty skinny.
