Anarchy Performance SR20DET Bug Eye WRX Build

Anarchy Performance 02 WRX Drift Build

I recently got my hands on a 02 Subaru WRX with no engine or trans so I am going to do something a little different with it. I have been wanting to build a RWD WRX for a while so I'm going to make it happen. I just happen to have a spare SR20DET engine and trans laying around the garage so I'm going to drop it in.

Some of you are going to love this and other will choose to hate. This is for those of you who choose to hate.

Now why you ask?
1) I have a Subaru with no engine or trans and a spare SR20DET engine and trans laying around
2) The cost to build a Subaru engine and trans that can take the kind of beating drifting puts on a car is just ridiculous.
3) The SR20DET comes with a pretty solid trans and is cheap to replace. Maybe I'll drop in a Z32 trans down the road. We'll see what happens
4) How many 240sx's do you see out on the drift track? How many SR20DET swapped WRX's do you see running around? Nough Said

The way it sat the day I picked it up

Old Pics from a previous life

Progress Photos

I don't have any current photos but I assure you the engine sits much lower

It is on several other sites as well so maybe you've seen it there. If you come across it on here send me the link.

nice work. i'm the guy with the sr20/GC. what are you going to do about your rearend? the power of the SR will snap your axles like no tomorrow. i'm currently designing a setup for my car where i can use the whole S13/14 rear subframe and since i'm making a custom tubular crossmember i will also be using all S14 tension rods, tie rods, spindles etc.

Good work. keep it up

Thanks man. I love that GC of yours.

Right now I'm doing a Frankenstein S13/WRX crossmember setup maintaining the WRX suspension and utilizing the s13 power steering rack. I am going tubular as well down the road and haven't determined weather or not I'm going to utilize the WRX or S13 Chassis components.

As for the rear I am planning on going tubular and using the R200 Diff and 240 axles as well.

The WRX chassis's weight distribution is already horrible enough with the stock engine without dropping a heavier and more expensive 6cyl in there. I thought about doing a KA-T but I want to get the weight distribution as close to 50/50 as possible.

yeah i thought it would be pretty damn cool to utilize the s14 chassis steering components on the GC the steering angle should be pretty damn impressive. good luck with your build. i'll be sure to check in every once in a while to see where its at. Mine is currently in paint thats why i havent updated in a while.

The engine is now bolted in place under it's own will power without the help of a jack or engine hoist.

Agency Power Clutch Line

Need to lengthen tie rods yet but S13 power steering rack in place

Cool idea but I think it's retarded to put an sr into it. Then again I wouldn't put an sr into a 240sx so that's just me.
