sure if you really want it. i'd personally search for one that's already manual. it'll obviously save you a lot of time. why get what you're gonna regret ya know?

I would not recommend doing it outside in a parking lot. Drive it auto until you can figure something out. Better idea, wait to buy the car you really want. Cant just jump on the first one that pops up, unless it's flawless, which if it is, you will look over the fact it's automatic. Good Luck

Fuck yea!! Especially if you do the work yourself. You can gather all the parts for $500, but that's gonna be a shitty job IMO. Get a strong light weight clutch/flywheel (non eBay crap) New master, slave cylinder. Clutch lines. Flywheel bolts. through out bearing. pilot bushing. B&M shifter or nothing. Aluminum driveshaft. You have until summer to gather up money for that setup, should bring the cost of parts to $1200. But worth every penny. When you buy the clutch, make sure its got good torque rating so when you go turbo, you don't do it twice.

Snow, eh? Note how its done by professionals

Get the car and drive it as is - focus on maintenance
in the meantime better your situation - apartment living and car enthusiast don't really mix well
save up, collect parts and have a shop do the conversion for you if you must - won't be cheap though

5 speed swap would be much cheaper than 1200 $...

Buy it and drive it auto until you gather parts and have the space to work on it.

Auto to manual isn't that hard. If you found an s14 that runs and drives and isn't busted/rusted to shit for $1800, get it. Manuals usually go for over 3 grand and aren't easy to find unmolested in IL

for $1800 it is a GOOD PRICE.

-Make sure you source out the parts first
-It will take you roughly 2 days if you take your time (5hrs each day)
-Use quality parts and follow directions carefully.
-Also helps to have a person with a knowledge to help you out during the install

-Drain all fluids
-Remove driveshaft
-Remove Auto transmission
-Install clutch pedal, manual brake pedal. clutch slave and master cylinder..
-Simple wiring for 5 speed swap
-resurface flywheel, install clutch
-install transmission
-add fluids..

My price for 5spd swap

$200 - Manual transmission, slave, fork, slave cylinder, driveshaft..
$100 - new exedy oem replacement clutch
$30 - new master cylinder
$20 - clutch pedal
$30 - stainless steel clutch line
$20 - resurfaced flywheel

about $400 for 5spd swap.

Next time, I wish I could have spent extra and got something like stage 2 clutch than just oem.. (clutch kicking etc..) just my opinion..

Just make sure you look for rust. Everyone claims no rust but unless its from the hot ass areas in the west coast, there will be some rust. Auto> Manual isnt hard and would be worth it since its only 130k miles. Do you have any plans for a motor swap?

If you are going to do another motor all you really need is a clutch pedal, (Manual brake pedal if you are anal about it) Master cylinder, some SS lines, some minor odds and ends and you are golden pony boy.

I would definitely get it and then listen to what ManoNegra said.
