I've kinda noticed when i was jobless, i was a bit more happy, always working on the car, repairing it every day from previous nights of idiotic driving. Good times. Then most of us got jobs. And are now unhappy with them. Kinda like a brotherhood of auto enthusiasts, similar the the bond ShockDrifting has with its members. Good times of fucking around, BBQing, hanging out.

Stupid jobs and their stupid monetary values.

And i've also tried to be open minded about religion, but i've gotten bashed for being the person i am by believers of God as well. While being open minded to religion, my roots tie directly with Buddha. Stating that, the pastor then said, "Well Socheat, as you may already know, the Devil has many faces."

He kinda fucked up the whole "power of faith" and turned it into "My God's more popular, join us."

But, thats was just one church/incident. I've got to really look around for that one place i can really relax.

Thats freaking awesome! I've got a seperate thread that was inspired by this one.

But actually, i've been perked up here and there. Happiness comes in many forms. Yet i'm still lacking at work. Not meeting quota, dropping the ball, mainly from the initial depression episode.

BUT, as many have said, i'll be gettin nowhere if i just sat around sulking. I've been picking up slack here and there, keeping the ball rolling, trying to get back into the groove of things.

remembers theres 3 working days in 1 whole day so he only needs sleep for 6-8 hours and he can work or procrastinate for the rest.... thats leaves 16-18 hrs.. and ive worked a 25 hr shift before sohc so i know u can do it

For the most part, my work days are from 8-6, or 12-10p. On Close outs (which are the days that are the middle ofthe month, and last day of), i normally get 12 hour days. Being as i have that time schedule, i get to sleep at roughly 1.30, and wake up at 6.40a. Its kinda back and forth with work, and i find myself just running errands on my days off.

I think i need an automotive job (kinda like what you had Bory) to keep me pumped up. I love the gym and all, but its not a passion like cars. And crashing.

Thats the problem with the way our society is set up; its set up in a manner that we will be imprisoned in work, living to work instead of working to live, working shitty jobs that we hate, to buy shit we don't need.

if you don't get up in the morning thinking i GET to go to work today, and enjoy your job, you should get another one. over the course of years an enjoyable job will be better / healthier than a high paying unenjoyable job.

So, i think i've narrowed it down to the cause of my depression.

Work.

Being as i am a "fitness counselor" i gotta sell memberships.

Being a salesman conflicts with my personal morales, and i dislike lying to complete strangers and forcing them to buy things they don't need. And my boss sees my conflict, yet, pushes me to change my ways of being the nice guy that always gives 14 days of free gym workouts, to a suit-and-tie closing salesman. And i can't do that.

BUT, i don't wanna quit and lose my free membership, and my bro doesn't wanna lose his either. SO, i think i might resign as a counselor, and become the maintenance tech. "The dude that fixes the machines."

From $6.75, which is retardedly horrible pay, to $12.25. And i get to fix stupid machines, and STILL feel up on girls. I mean train em. And maybe it'll give me more consideration for other automotive jobs, as it deals with repairs.

Sounds like a good, solid plan to me. I bet you'll feel happier after you do this. Good luck man and good job finding out what was bothering you. It's hard to see sometimes and even harder to make the right decisions.

the new plan sounds like a good one... ive been reading through here and havent really responded. I feel the same way sometimes... i end up at home, thinking way too much because all my friends can drive, and i cant, i blows. same thing with not knowing what to do in life... i love cars, but i dunno how that translates into a career. Id really like to own/run a shop one day, so i might start looking into that more.

sochbat, a couple of words here. First I am a firm believer in doing work that one likes. If you don't find a job you do.
Second if your doing sales but your not into get out!! A salesman that does not beleive in what he or she is selling is a poor salesperson at best and usually gets depressed. Mainly because their sales suck because there lack of desire for it shows.
Now you have figured out that part. So if your going to do any kinda of sales, just remember you must believe in it and be happy about it.
On the job front you have to do something you like so you can feel good about yourself and your achievment therein.
On the life side of things you cannot receive if you do not give therefore if you can give then you will receive. That is one of the fundamental keys of spirituality.
We are all human, we all are not perfect, we make mistakes we do things sometimes contrary to our fundamental feelings and beliefs. Anyone that criticizes another for something that person is doing should look at themselves as well. We all have not gone by our own rules at one time or another in our lifetimes its a fundamental fact of being human.
The difference is being able to recognize that about yourself and not comdemning others. Also being willing to try and accept it and change it.
You cannot change unless you know. Your on the way already.

So i'm starting to look for a new job now, being as sales makes me sad, and depressed. Unless its the personal training. THAT, i can do, hands down.

Go out to meet more people and learn information from them. if you like their acitivties (such as career or hobbits), then set your self to expose more at that field. This will make your life more interesting for sure.

it really works out for my friend who is currently depressed. It also free up his vision, knowledge, and personal network.

but i personally think that you feel depress might because you didnt establish a realistic yet challenge long term goal.

i think it is ok if you dont know, but it is a shame if you dont try.

to answer above question^^^^^ what about study in architecture?

I'm gonna go out on a imb here and say something. My mom has had depression issues her whole life. She got real bad about a month ago. She said even the things she used to enjoy mad here mad and just felt bad. She (having a history with it) went to a doc. Now, if you're just "in a rut" then wait it out however you see fit, but some people with perpetual depression problems have the cliche "chemical embalances" you here about. My mom did. Anywho long story short, she takes med's now, not anything hardcore like prozac (those can make it worse or start addictions) but it very slightly alter chem levels, mainly seretonin (sp) but not in near as big of a swing as prozac type meds. Now she's her normal self. Not deppressed but also not happy and wierd like a crazy person, which some meds will do.

I'm just saying, clinical deppression is a illness that may actually have to be treated, but then again if you're just in a rut, feel bad about your job, etc; then that's a different story. I just wanted to give that perspective since I've witnessed it first hand.

I think it's very mature and courageous of you to bring this up. You already took the biggest step simply by talking about the issue. I personally feel better after letting family or friends know how I'm feeling. I find that usually people relate and just by knowing that I'm not the only one with this issues helps ease the load of my shoulders. Figure out what makes you happy (money, material possessions, relationships, spirituality, etc) and set goals to work toward those things. Hope you feel better.
