s13 KA24DE Slow Acceleration/Idle bad

It's been bugging me now that my s13 has been real slow lately. I would floor it and I can hear it roaring but wont pick up as quick. I haven't done a tune up/check up since 1 year ago, I should go do that soon, but I want to find out the source of why it accelerates slow and idle. A couple days ago when I would start my 240 it would die immediately, happened twice, after it was warm. Hasn't happened since then but I feel like all this is connected with the problem. My idle is also bad when it's warm, but not when it's cold. It would idle around 500rpms and some times would go lower, about to shut off, after from gear to neutral. Any symptoms you can get from this?

do a tune up with the original ngk plugs... theyre expensive but worth it... then check timing... after check the intake tubing... the accordion looking couplers like to crack where you cant see it so look at everything closely.. o2 sensor would be recommended.. i know this because our twin cam hatch did that when we got it... after everything mentioned above along with doing intake manifold gaskets and egr cleaning.. she purrs like a kitten and takes out other stock twin cams like it wasnt even funny

Will take your advice TheMechanic! Still kind of a novice with fixing engines but I'll take a look at what you said. Ill also have the mechanics take a second look to make sure my 240 will be happy

Did you let it run almost empty...? I'd change fuel filter...then check fuel pressure. Also recommend cleaning the iacv. Also maybe clean the MAF(CRC MAF cleaner sold at autozone. ..made a night and day difference on my 240. May only be a temp fix, these mafs like to go bad.). I doubt it's timing...but could be.

I'd also like to add, my egr is bad and doesn't affect my idle, nor performance whatsoever. Are you throwing any codes?

Alright so I took it to a mechanic told them the probs I had with it, checked it and said its perfect, couldn't find a problem. I swear my 240 would be fine and then it wouldn't, like it comes and goes I guess. Check engine light never comes on, but the ECU should still show them right? Gotta check that out soon, need a code reader though. Been really busy haven't had time to really check her well. But im going to get those cleaners and clean the maf and iacv.

s13s dont need code readers.. you gotta take out the little panel under the dash on the passanger side... there is a phillips head screw under the dash that holds it in place. then remove the plastic phillips screws on the door side of the panel and on the bottom.. pop the little panel up from the car then you can move the kick panel away from the side.. after you need a 10mm socket to remove the bolt holding the ecu to the car chassis.. next turn the ecu around so you can see the diagnostic screw... you HAVE TO BE GENTLE to the little screw... you need to turn on the key (engine off).. turn the screw all the way to the right... wait 2 seconds then move it completely back to the left.. now watch the little red LED light or look at the check engine light... if it blinks... say 3 times slow and 2 times fast... your code will be 32... slow codes are the first number.. fast blinking is the second number... it will pause for like 2 to 4 seconds then repeat the codes.. to clear them turn the screw to the right and wait 5 seconds... return it to the original position again... you will see a code 55.. 5 long blinks 5 short ones... that means youre good to go.. after that re install all pieces removed and youre done

So I just checked my ECU right now, its throwing a 55, which is all good. I still don't understand how my car would feel slow sometimes and other times feel really great. I guess the only thing to do now is clean up, which I still haven't had time to do do But im still gonna go for a tune up later on and put mods to increase my 240. Planning to keep it NA, but a fast NA, until I get enough for engine swap

did you do the fuel filter or could be an old fuel pump?

Haven't done none, but i am planning to get a 300zx fuel filter and a Walbro 255lph fuel pump on it either way. Should make it better right?
