I can agree with everything being mentioned.
True Blood is perhaps my favorite series right now, can't wait for the new season

Salem's Lot had a huge impact on me when I was a kid:

part of a trilogy, Day Watch is out but I haven't seen it yet.

Its not horrible...theres a good plot...i would say watch it atleast...definitely not a buy...but a movie to sneak into or rent LOL

I enjoyed 'Shadow of The Vampire' couple yrs back.
It has William Dafoe playing Noserferatu, & John Malkovich as FW Murnau (director of the orginal Nosferatu silent film).
Really more a comedy but enjoyable all the same.

Francis Ford Coppola's Dracula (essentially another adpatation as Nosfertu) was one of the better ones imo

because I recently saw Daybreakers - it was alright

but mainly because I was bummed that I couldn't get the subtitles to work
on the copy of Let The Right One In that made it's way into my laptop
and I remembered that my sister had the book
so I borrowed it and just finished last night

awesome book (although the ending was weak)
I really like the way all characters - bad and good - are humanized and developed
can't recommend it enough to Vampire aficionados

I liked the setup of Daybreaks
that Vampires made the majority of the population and
developed technology to be able to venture into the sunlight

I finished all the books BTW and I have to say the last book is actually really fuckin awesome. If you guys could put aside the fact that this is a huge tween phenomenon and just read them you'd be entertained.

In the last book, she ends up getting pregnant by Edward. The baby almost ends up killing her because it's growing so quickly. Her whomb ends up being strong like a vampire and the only way to get the baby out is Edward has to BITE THROUGH HER FUCKIN STOMACH! Come on, you have to admit that's pretty cool. Then the baby comes out and it's smart as shit and is gifted. In the process of her giving birth she dies and is turned to a vampire by Edward. Then the Wolf dude ends up imprinting (falling in love but absolute and you have no control over it, it just happens) on the baby. She ends up being bad ass and there's this crazy ending where you find out she is one of the most gifted vampires ever.

Now obviously I just ruined it for you but they're worth reading. Seriously, these books are more then the sum of the screaming girls reading'em and watching the movies.

I wouldn't judge the series on the movies anyway. Especially because the last book (which I said above is the best) is by far the most violent and the best in the series. And the books are a lot better of course.

The sparkly skin is less emphasized in the books as well.

Also in the third book they go into the back story of Jasper (you think he's kind of a bitch in the first movie/book) and dude was basically a mass killer for most of his vampire life. He also ends up killing hundreds of vampires under certain circumstances.

Seriously, I wish people would get past the fact that girls like the series and just read the books.

My only criticism of the books is that it is pretty PG13. But given the core audience it's understandable.

I also read the fist book since my sister has it
even she thinks this series sucks and isn't that good

now, having said that, I WOULD read the rest of the books because
I know it'll bug me not to see it to conclusion,
I'm one of those persons that needs to finish books

but seriously, all the first book and movie are is crappy romance novels... with glittering vampires

I had had my eye the film but I guess it didn't do too well since
it came and left theaters without much notice
light fare but entertaining, good time killer
it was set up to be a series but don't know if more will be made based on it's reception

I am just personally into the Older style Vampire. Taunting, Scarey, Mysterious, and Evil. I think Bram Stroker's Dracula was By FAR the best Depiction of a Vampire.

I am not really into " Glamorious " Vampires..
