I've never retorqued any, never had an issue with them.

I never re-torqued mine after installing my apexi head gasket. Went to a track day soon after. Car is still running fine after a few thousand miles without a re-torque.

my car goes on the dyno next week. Im both excited and curious to see what numbers im gonna make. here are my mods:
-redtop sr20 fully rebuilt bored over, eagle rods, cp pistons(86.5mm w/ 9:1 cr), arp head and main studs, apexi headgast -garrett gt2871r .86 -earls ss turbo lines -power enterprise 850cc injectors -z32 maf -s14 waterneck -greddy fmic -hks ssqv bov -greddy turbo outlet -hks dp -hks hi-power 80mm exhaust Ive been running this setup (minus maf/injectors) for a couple months now on stock fuel. Added some fuel pressure and turned back the timing a bit to keep it safe. Car is fun to drive and is decently quick at 8-9psi. Finally got my funds up for my nistune so my local shop will be installing the maf/injectors/nistune and tuning it next week. Id like to see 330hp at 18psi. Think thats a realistic number? I still have stock head, mani, and cams so idk. Can't wait to see her on the rollers! and here's a little highway pull video of what ive been working with lol YouTube - sr20 highway pull |

been following this thread on and off ever since it first started but man nobody ever really seems to POST WHAT KINDA OF OCTANE THEY ARE USING, witch then leads to many misleading interpretation,
i am more than likley gonna go this route wit a build KA, and lookn to get a fully balanced crank soo i can rev upwards close to 7500-8000 but i am also wondering if anyone here has seen or even heard of ppl running on 91 octane being able to push that high on 91 octane wit high boost looking at around 400 hp oh yea i plan on running the 9.5-1 comp on 91....or droppin the comp down to 9.0-1 ive done some good amount of researched just like some $0.2 from some top t2871 gurus

What are you overall goals with the car? For 400 whp I'd say 8.5 compression...less detonation risk, less worry. More compression IMO needs a much more specific tune. Sure some guys run 9.0 compression SR without much issue, but to me it's not worth the few HP, in the event you have crappy fuel. FWIW: I'm not sure I'd trust 91 octane for a 400whp anything. I run 93 and 93 only. I also run meth, but for detonation resistance, not HP. Quote:
T2 Flange: GT2871r .64 or .86 T3 Flange: T3/T4 with bigger housings / 3071...but if you're gonna go T3 flange, I'd rather just go 35r and deal with it as the 2871r or the T3/T4 gets you close enough for much less cost.

Thanks codyace, I figured that wad about right. I've got 93 octane where I live. Also another question, there are a few gas stations around that sell ethanol free premium gas. I usually go buy that gas because it gives me better gas mileage, about 40-50 miles on a tank. Wonder what the power diff between having ethanol in the gas, if there is any. I do notice a change on my wide band when running gas with ethanol, it reads a little leaner.

as far as tunning goes im looking to get a full stand alone ECU...prob like AEM ECU
well 93 is not readily available to me aorund were i live...mainly 91....i would like to have a fast responsive fun turbo that doesnt die off past 7000.....but im also worried bout detonation...dont wanna build to only have it last a ffew months and then BOOM!!! what kinda of power am i more likely going to have wit a safe tune like this...350?

Gonna be hard to say. I don't have much 91 experience, so I don't know the true safe limit on it for a street abuse car. 350-400 would be my guess, but nothing to say certainly.

I just got back from the dynojet. I'm kinda dissapointed in the results but I can't expect too much considering I still have the stock intake and exhaust manifold. Here's my setup
1.8mm tomei HG Gt2871r .64ar Deatschworks 740cc z32 maf I/E Enthalpy Tuned ECU JWT S3 Cams I made 303hp and 298 torque 11.5AFR, 18psi and its running 91 octane. Lmk what you guys think.

While the numbers seem low, the curves do look nice. Sure it was at 18psi? Seems more indicative of a 10/12ish PSI pull.
Stock intake manifold isn't going to hurt it that much. Maybe see if Martin can look over the ECU for you?

Well, got my car all straightened out and tuned today. My tuner could not get the 850cc injectors to work, car kept running ridiculously rich and broke up under boost. He luckily had a spare set of nismo 740's. Ended up making 350.9whp and 340.7tq at 18.5psi. I'm pleasantly surprised considering I'm still running stock head/manifold. And man 350whp on the street is a blast, already almost got a speeding ticket haha.

No power# yet, but first time at the drag event last weekend:
Best run: Reaction: 0.207 60-ft: 2.048 ET 1/4 mile: 12.714 sec 1/4 mile: 12.921 sec Speed: 171.8 km/u (109) This was on Toyo R888 255/40/17 track semi's.... beter as streettires but no were near full drag slicks. Setup: 2871 .86 @ 1.3 bar S14 SR20DET z32 maf 740CC Nismo's Toda 264/10.5 cams etc. etc. Time seems about rigth in my opinion. Put dragslicks on it and get around 12 flat area?

I know it's you "first time" blah blah! Do you really think your first time with slicks will be any better? I'm just gonna say practice and will not blame the tune. Because..., if i say "You should be making more than 350hp at 18psi." You'd say, "my boost controller wasn't holding boost!" or somethings crazy like that. lol ![]()

@Cotbu: Brilliant answer haha.
I dont blame anything besides myself. Heard all the BS before. During the multiple runs I noticed that a blink of an eye or a few more revs can cost or make .5 seconds sort of speak. Practice is the key like you said.

are there any clearance issues when using an HKS actuator with stainless coolant lines? i have heard of the z bent garrett actuators needing to be flipped to clear the 90 degree fittings of those lines. does a straight wg rod offer less clearance?
71r in question is OEM style compressor housing. |

The trap speed seems a bit low for 1.3bar. I trapped 108mph on a t25 full weight s13 coupe xe with sunroof, power windows, etc, and 17s.

Well, I will keep an eye on this thread. But once I get my motor back together I think I will go with a 2871 .64 turbo.
Anyone have a spool comparison between a .64 2871 and a Twin Scroll 3071? I want 375 horsepower, and reliability. Definately RELIABILITY. I have 740cc injectors, will be tuning with Nistune more than likely, and will probably add a Meth kit as well, just for detonation protection more than anything. With the Meth on this setup, what AFR should you tune to? And If Im going for more mid-range power, a good grunt, what manifold/cam setup should I go with and this 2871 turbo?
