Difference between 89-90 and 91-92 S13 coupe?
is there a difference in the body between 89-90 and 91-92? i heard the front quarter panels are a bit wider in the 91-92 years. is that true?

Yup, 89-90 have the pignose front bumper & SOHC engine.
The 91-94 have the chuki front & the DOHC engine. The fenders are the same, but the 91-94 have separate extension pieces where it meets the front bumper. All 94's are convertible. |

No, the convertibles were available from 92-94. In 94, you could only get a convertible. All of the convertibles started as coupes and were modified in California by American Specialty Cars, an aftermarket company.
This is for the US market. I think in some markets, 1994 was already the S14. |

I've had lots of 240sx some hatches and some coupes years all over the place. Now this is my opinion. so don't take it as the word of god k haha. But from the 89 90 body's and 91 through 93 body's I've always gotten the sense while driving the 91 through 93 body's are better reenforced. The 89 and 90 body's I've owned one hatch one coupe. There frames felt flimsy while driving. Compared to my 91 up body's witch include two 93 and one 91 hatches and 2 91 and 92 coupes. All different miles the 93 body's even had higher mileage then the 89 body's. So couldn't blame the mileage. Haha anyone else felt the same sense ?

Actually theres a slight difference on the fenders, ones a tiny bit smoother then the onther, I believe its the chuki fronts that have an extra almost invisible body line on the front fenders. It becomes obvious in the middle of body work when you have miss matches fenders haha.

Actually you have that backwards. 89-90 you had to hold the door handle up when locking closed doors. 90-94 you did not. Trust me I have owned way to may of all the years. LOL Oh and this thread needs to be closed now.
