sr20det idle problem (idle dies instantaly when maf unplugged)
I am having trouble idling with my maf plugged in, it idles fine until you blip it. Also I unplugged the maf just to check if it was good it changed but It killed the car instantally. now i heard that the car should idle with the maf unplugged.
Does that mean O2 sensor is dead? Or is that a vacuum problem? s13 redtop sr |

the car will turn off if you unplug it but u can restart it itll run rich/lean cuz it doesnt know what its reading. as for the idle try putting a new maf in it might be blown also check spark plugs they just might be used up

sounds like a vac leak to me. any small leak will cause that problem. i would suggest doing a leakdown test with an air compressor. basically go and get a pvc cap from a hardware store (the same size as the part of the maf that the intake tube clamps onto), then drill a hole in the center and thread in an air compressor fitting. finally, remove the maf and clamp the cap in it's place. now just regulate your air supply down to about 10 psi and plug it in. you will be able to hear any leaks.

I tested for vacuum leaks, none present that I know of. And my vac/boost gauge reads -20 on the dot.
Also, I did not mention I am using z32 maf with emanage. rotary switches 2-0-7, in the software hw2 |

*edit* actually, i just noticed that you said you're using emanage. if the emanage voltage correction for the maf works same way as an safc2, you should set it at 2 in 6 out (i'm assuming that would be 2-0-6). i've never worked with emanage before though, so i can't really give any solid advice. |
