Should I buy this 240? (pics inside)
Hey guys. Its been a long time since I have been on this forum. I used to own a 1995 240...regret selling her every day. Only had 24k on it! Now im driving a sr20ve powered classic SE-R.
Anyways, to make a long story short I happened to be at my local nissan dealer and ran into a lady in the parts department picking up a part for a "240Z" well I got to talk to the lady and determined that the car was actually a 1991 240SX Coupe. 5-speed. Then she said she wanted to sell it. She is asking 1200. The car apparently has a rod engine problems, but it does run and drive. I believe its a rod knock. She said it was an LE, but I am not knowledgable enough to determine if it is an LE or an SE...has moonroof and a spoiler...maybe you guys can help me out? Anyways, she sent me the following three pictures. How much is this car worth assuming engine problems and a worn interior? 1991 240 SX Thanks guys... |

Looks good, and probably worth the $1200 if the engine is salvagable. If it has leather it is an LE, otherwise probably just an SE.

It seems to be a very nice shell at the very least. I'd say that it's worth $1200.....toss a CA in there and you've got a very nice car indeed.
Keep the SE-R though, they ownz. |

B13 Sentra SE-Rs (that is those made from 1991-1994) are considered as CLASSIC SE-Rs by those who are in the know because they are the first, the original, and the best (arguably) sentras ever produced. Please brush up on your Nissan history/knowledge and come back tomorrow with an answer to my original question in post numero uno. www.sr20forum.com for more info on classic SE-Rs, and all things related to the sr20 motor. |

GET IT....
get a KA and boost it dont bother swapping out the engine for a sr. you'll get more power if you boost a ka and a good assbeating of torque.. I miss my low rpm torque curve also It will cost you way less than swapping a sr or ca and the buck for bang, is damn good... you can source turbo's and parts fairly cheap...

Even if it was missing the engine and the shell is in perfect shape is worth it that much......jump on it and buy the lady some coffee.....check for prior wrecks just to make sure.....

Seriously, Get the damned car. Its a good deal. LE Coupes were only a Canada thing. All S13 Coupes are SE or XE. FB's 91-93 were SE, LE, or XE. Now, get it, fix it with another KA, come over to Cali and trade me for my white '91; I WANT RED!!!

... then I wrecked it in 2003, my current 13 was white and will be a different blue, but the point that I make is that it will NOT be and runs zero chance of being red while in my possession

I heard of paint, but then I would have to remove the engine to get teh car painted the RIGHT way, all one color. It looks tacky w/o paint in the engine bay.
I think Coupes look outstanding in bright red. Just my opinion.

You can always people opinions here, but what it really comes down to, is whether or not YOU yourself, really want the car. If you really don't want it, then hold out for a better one with less problems. I would've loved to join the 240 family, but opted for the Rx7 family, and found out that my baby has a several problems that need fixing. Doesn't bother me though....except for the damn gas.
