Sr20det piston ring gap
Hey there I'm rebuilding my sr20det for moderate boost(15-18psi) and I have a few questions about the ring gaps. I have a stock bore oem piston and new oem rings.
Most people say .018" top ring and .021" middle ring, what about the bottom ring? Do I gap them to factory spec? Also those top and middle rings specs that I have read on other forums are out of the limit per fsm; .0154" top ring, middle ring is within spec as its limit is .0232". I'm having the machine shop gap them for me. He says unless I say what size to gap the rings, he will gap them on the higher end of the spec |

Higher end of the spec is fine for boosted applications.
As for the bottom oil scraper rings, they don’t need gaps adjusted just the top and middle
