actually i searched welding gun and thats what popped up, i know its not the best welder you could get but i thought id ask, whats the big deal? you zilvia members arnt gods gift, stop acting like it. it said it was a welder, and it was cheap thats why i asked. maybe if you guys would stop being assholes about the situation and point someone in the right direction things would move alot smoother. but no you cant.

that's not a god damn welder! that's a SPOT WELDING GUN. a SHITTY one at that. it's for spot welding a quarter panel on etc. do some research, don't expect to be spoon fed. you're not going to find a welder that is good to weld in your cage for less than 500 bucks.

If you want an answer. Do some research on your own. Can't find what you're looking for? Try a little harder. Still can't find it? Then make a post. A post that doesn't indicate you're an incompetent 19 year old.

there is a reason people will pay 2-5k for a well built roll cage
there are entire schools dedicated to building such things

don't ask if you have no actual interest in the subject
it is apparent that you do not

welding is a skill that you become proficient at over the coarse of many years
cage building uses that and many other skills that do not come to you overnight

if you actually have an interest in it do more research
come to a conclusion that it is either left to professionals or you can go through a long process of trial and error

the answer is not here, nor does a comprehensive answer exist on the internet

who cares if youve been wrenching since before you had a permit. ive been welding since 15 and im just about to start my own cage/tube front end. it seems like youre expecting to just pick up a cheap "gun" and make a cage. stick to pvc piping and pool noodles. im sure those would do a better job at protecting you in a crash than any cage you build would.

Ok here is the deal. The guys on here are pretty much the best at what they do, and when someone who knows nothing about welding asks about building a cage...or any safety equipment it makes them angry.
Lets assume for a minute that you know nothing about ballistics, industrial fabrics, or sewing...would you try to build a bullet proof vest and test it yourself? Driving with a poorly designed/ fabricated cage is even more dangerous than with no cage at all, because you have a false since of security.
Cage building is an art. Many hours go into research even before we pick up one tube. I have been welding longer than I haven't and I am still learning every day.
For sure your first welding project should not be a piece of safety equipment.

so anyways, back to fabrication. i have quite a few things to do here on the side. welding in a bung for a buddy in his oil pan, doing an intercooler pipe flange for an s2000, welding a diff (money's money lol) modifying a manifold for t3 flange, then this winter i have a 6.0L turbo kit to build!
