Leaky Injector

That is so rad^ Cant wait to hear it.
And I'm about a year too late on this, but bolts are spec'd to a torque + an angle because that way you get a more consistent clamp load and bolt stretch than with just a torque spec. |

Finally an S14
Very nice, Matt, congrats on the first place finishes! Now you need to do something to those stock front fenders so they flow better with the rears.

Finally got around to ordering the front flares, taped on to test fit before drilling holes in the fenders. Still not sure I'm sold on the flare look. . . may still go widebody if I don't like how this turns out.
My oldest finally got to ride in the S14, he just giggled and laughed the whole time. We only rode around our neighborhood and didn't get out of 2nd gear, but he loved every minute of it! |

Slowly but surely making these things fit. Like most fiberglass (FRP) stuff it's not a direct fit, so the edges are all having to be sanded to fit the car and leave even gaps.
The top edge against the trunk has had to have more attention than any other part of the panel, the gap is looking much better now. You can see here where I've been making marks to note what part needed to be sanded or evened out. |

I decided it was time to update the lighting of the car, bulbs are great, but LEDs are obviously longer lasting and much brighter. So I ordered a 10 pack of 194 LEDs and replaced all of the park lights on the car, along with the front corner lens.
These are much brighter now! License plate bulbs were actually burnt out I found, they got the LED treatment too A subtle hat tip to the V8 swap |

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 For the front and rear park lights with amber lens I used these white LEDS. The rear corners were the hardest to do, just take your time and work slowly. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 |

Decided it was time to get serious if I'm going to be autox the car exclusively. Picked up these GK Teck toe arms, and after seeing how nice these are I think all of the arms on the car will switched out to GK soon. Compared to what I'm taking off the car, these things are gold. GK even supplies these dust boots to keep the rock crawler grade hiem joints clean, love it! I made sure to apply plenty of anti seize to the threads so these stay in good shape.

Rear flares are actually from a company based in California called Fineline Tuning. They make replica stuff, and based on current wait times for Origin I went this route instead, cheaper and readily available. The rears were less than $400 shipped, but I'm having trouble getting the matching fronts from Fineline as they don't have them in stock |

Origin fronts came in, straight from Japan, only took 4 days! I'd like to add that these were in stock, ready to ship. No company in the US had these in stock ready to ship, and were on a 4-6 month back order, and were more expensive than these I sourced through Jesse Streeter. Beautiful! I'm even more excited that these arrived undamaged. . . USPS actually did a decent job with these once they got their mits on em, ODD. As free time allows I'm working on fitment, out of the box they are surprisingly a decent fit, but as with all fiberglass body parts there is some tweeking to be done. I've slotted the mounting holes to get the body gaps as close to perfect as possible. Door to fender gap, not bad. |

With the car being more track based than street based at this point, I decided it was
time to get my head out of the sunroof. When I autox I have to slouch ever so slightly to keep my helmet out of the headliner. Not only is it uncomfortable, it's not safe. As you'll notice in the next two pictures, I purchased a set of Street Faction and Planted Technology brackets to see which gets the seat lower. During the install process my oldest wanted to help, so naturally I had to suit him up and let him sit in the new Sparco lol Here you see the Street Faction brackets, which have a lot of adjustability, however they seem to have more upward adjustment than anything. So for shorter people, these may be a good option. . . ? The Planted Technology brackets get the seat over an inch lower than the SF however, and these are the ones I'll end up using, as on the lowest setting my helmet has over a 1/4" between it and the headliner. Overall, the Planted Tech brackets work best, and get the seat lower and further right than the Street Faction brackets. If you are running a wider seat, be forewarned you'll need to do some work to get the seat to keep from hitting the door when it closes. |

I should have used Streeter for the smaller items that I had ordered. |

Managed to borrow a truck and trailer from a coworker to hit up a 1/2 mile event over the weekend.
Had a blast, learned a lot about the cars stability at speeds over 100mph, and saw a ton of awesome cars as well. Got 5 runs out the the day, could've squeezed in a few more, but I let the car cool down a lot between runs, since heat is the enemy of horsepower. I was paired up with a new 5.0 Mustang on one of my runs, kept a few lengths on him, not surprised really since they are so heavy. Maybe Ford should start making them out of aluminum like their pick up trucks lol Overall, my speed average for the day was 130mph, one pass I pulled the muffler and gained 3 mph, making my overall top speed 133mph. If I did 1/2 mile events more often I would check into gearing to gain some more MPH. But it was still a blast! Saw tons of cool stuff. Factory Five GTM, Corvette based, rear engine with Porsche trans. Didn't get to see this up close, but man I love a C-10!!! Exhaust came up through bed with flappers! There had to be over 25 GT-Rs there, I've never seen so many in one place in my life. Only one Nismo GT-R though, love this thing. One lonely Aerial Atom Without question, the cleanest E30 I've ever seen, gutted, full cage and swapped. Wish I know more about BMW engines, maybe someone can weight in on what swap this is. |

Looks like an S62 swap. Laguna Seca Blue is such a nice color; I don't know how I feel about it on an older BMW though.
Can't say the cleanest until you come see the wagon, haha. Last edited by crash n' burn; 05-24-2017 at 10:38 AM.. |
