limp mode question

Hey guys. So my s13 has an sr20 and recently the car doesn't rev past 2k rpm. But it starts right up. I unplugged the maf while it was running and no change at all. So im thinking it's a maf problem. My question is, if I get a new maf would I need a pigtail as well?

Why not test the MAFS before you buy a new one just to be absolutely positive that it's the MAFS.

How would I go by testing the maf? The only way I knew how was by unplugging it while the car was running to see if it shuts off or idle change
