Yeah i guess but from what i heard and read not a lot of other dj's like him and bash him all the time.

Plus when he does his sets he does it with Ableton live and restricts other dj's from using it..

So it pretty much mixes itself as i learned how to do it as well so no real skill is used when doing it...

I like him though i love his simple layered synths that he uses..

He just makes 4 tracks on top of another and tweaks the filter and envelope a bit to get his sound..

But from what i read again and saw it's a preset on the MiniMoog so idk...

Its not just dj's basing him. The whole EDM crowd jocks him on tranceaddict all the time. But they represent a small percentage compared to commercial listeners. I do know theres a huge beef between him and Marcus Schossow after he started making songs under the name deadrat6 that made fun of deadmau5's simple style.

The whole Ableton Live thing is debatable. I'd say if you are doing some crazy creative things with it such as what Sasha is doing, then its fine. But if you're just playing two songs one after another at the same beat, you can just do that with two decks and a mixer. Thats when it gets lame.

He is the biggest prick on the planet, from what I am told from people that actually delt with him. I will say he is a marketing genius though. Dance music is so similar and you need something to set yourself apart from the rest of the dj/producers.

All I know is I use Live and the mau5 really would have been dead that night if he pulled that shit hours before a set. What is he afraid of someone showing him up that night with better Live skills?

Yeah I have a lot of his music and some of it I actually like.

not like a complete Kaskade rip off but he has a lot of dope drum lines already done i just threw some synths and bass over them...

drum lines I think most sample and re-sample. Only so much 808 909 etc sounds out there. I do a bit of sampling drums but put a compressor or something on it. Mix it up a little. Don't sweat drums. Just stay away from sampling synths leads and shit.

Still wanna know how to use that side chain feature but eh i'll learn...

any way .. He is a tallented guy. From the sounds of it you just like Progressive house. look more into it on beatport. Its quite the music for drifting off, thinking, uplifting,etc.. its like the classical music of the edm world lol

Trance in general is classical music with a dance beat.

I've been getting big into prog house these days from producers such as Dinka, Jaytech, Proff, Michael Cassette, Moonbeam, etc. Check out tunes from Anjunadeep.
