ditching the greddy RS bov, will anything else fit?
I'm having problems with my greddy rs bov, so I was going to ditch it in favor of something else...does anything else fit on the greddy flange other than the greddy bovs? or will I need a new hotpipe?

whats wrong with it? I never had problems with any of my greddy bovs.
i did have 2 leaky HKS ones tho - a SSQV that leaked outta the bolt hole (first ssqv when they had adjusters) and a old ass super bov that leaked is it not opening? leaking? I had to turn the knob in on my old type S so it didnt leak at idle... the rs is kinda in - not as far tho.

I've messed with adjusting it open, and it doesn't seem to be doing anything...all I hear shifting (low and high rpms) is verying degrees of compressor surge.

1g dsm bov you MUST recirc! It will be open at idle...
Sounds to me like you dont have the vacuum line hooked to the right place (or not to a proper vac source.

i had a similar problem. part of it was due to a few small vacuum leak, the compressor surge was just a matter of tuning the bov's tension so it stays shut just enough under boost, and soft enough that it'll blow off on low boost. just experiment with it a little...see how it goes. good luck

I looked for vacuum leaks, couldn't find anything. I've adjusted the tension a little, it seems to have helped some. Couldn't get on it though tonight, roads were wet. I'll try it tomorrow and get back to you guys.

do you have both springs in? When I first got mines, it had both the hard spring and the soft spring in... it didn't matter how I adjusted it, it was just too stiff.. so I took 1 spring out, and now it opens perfectly

if you tighten an RS all the way, the valve DOES NOT OPEN.
unless you switch to MAP or Blow-through, you really should recirculate your bov. It will increase your drivability ten-fold. If you insist on venting to atmosphere like every other ricer who thinks he's fortunate, at least get a TIAL. |

any other ideas? I tried to pull the spring out like you said, there was only one spring in there already. I bought it used, so it's possible one was removed.

I would recommend the Synapse bov, it supposed to eliminate compressor surge and you you can buy different mounting flanges for it. ie, the greddy mounting flange. bought mine for about 220 bucks and the flange adapter for about 20 bucks on www.enjukuracing.com. works for me had for about 2 weeks cuz the greddy one sucked balls. tried the single spring mod and still no luck. also remember to reroute the recirculation valve back into the intake piping. good luck

I have a Greddy Type RS, and when it works, it works very well.....every few months, the diaphragm will get stuck and pinch, not allowing it to close all the way, but then i just open it up and put some grease on the diaphragm lip
